Overall description of hand: Fancy play. Turning my TPBK into a bluff against reg 240bb deep. Real brain strech comes OTT.
Setting: - playing with 240bb stack becouse I want to have fishy player in MP covered
- no established dynamic between me and villian
- general observed behavior of regulars on NL5: - they 3bet too much OOP w/ polarized range then they cbet flop often to give up OTT
- villian is playing 28/21 over 72 hands, 3bet from BB vs steal 2 times out of 9 ( 22.2%) , cbet in 3bet pot 2 from 3 , looks like quite solid regular
Cliffs : -Pre: Sweet hand (being so deep) IP against probably polarized range, good odds and psr.
-OTF: Got TPBK, nice, lets call once and see what happens
-OTT: His range has mainly strong TPs and twopairs apart from sets and flushes. Tcard is great to represent flush. He cant call it off vs strong line with his TPs,twopairs. What sizing I would make with flush?
-OTR: I GOT DA HEART
My real time thought process was something between what is in cliffs and in analysis below.
Preflop: - standand 2,5x open from BU ( sb has 100bb stack if deeper (>150bb) then I would probably 3x)
- Facing 3bet with sizing on the smaller side (given how much deep we are), so I opt for call (and not to 4bet) for various reasons :
- A6s is really nice hand to play IP deepstacked (nothing better than win flush over flush 240bb deep)
- as people 3bet with polarized ranges OOP too much, they do alot of mistakes with their trash part of range
- I got sweet odds and psr
OTF: - Only hands which are reasonable for him to check instead of cbet here IMO are like JJ-KK,T9s,T8s, (maybe AA but I think he would rather want to pump up the pot little bit than getting tricky).
- I decided to call with my TPBK ( I dont really see any point in fold or raise) and my plan for turn is check back if he checks (to induce him to spazz OTR when he gets desperate with hand like 8s9s) and fold when he bets again.
OTT: - He bets again, so now his range is value heavy and he probably has very little amount of bluffs if any.
- Here is where all the range estimating really comes into play, so he very possibly has 7combos of sets (AA,TT,44) , 16c of TPT/ndK (AQ,AK), 4c of 2pairs (A4s,A7s) and then mabye if he doesnt 3bet only polarized range he also has 6c of AT, I exclued AJ as I dont think he would be betting here with it (as he beats nothing from my potentionaly calling range.)
- Also he has some combos of flushes (lets say he has 7c , 98,T9,T8,JT,J9,K2,K3), its most likely he will re-raise those as it would be akward for him to extract value OTR as he would have to depent on me betting, also obviously in case he 3bets here I fold.
- So I opted to turn my weak TP into a bluff to fold out his AK,AQ,A4,A7 and AT if he has it, I dont think he folds any sets althou in my precieved range are only flushes (dont think that he would ever put me on bluff here, I almost never do such crazy stuff and my image is solid as we have almost no history) for most nl5 villians set has too big absolute hand strenght to fold. So I decided to take super strong line by representing flush ( of which I have quite a few of combos after calling OTF). I raise only 2,5x for two reasons, one is I would raise probably to same amount with flush as I wouldnt want him to fold and second is that with this sizing I can slightly OB OTR which I think gives me more FEQ.¨
- My play OTR is allready decided to shove on any card other than T,4,7,A (as they increase his calling range abit and deffo I wouldnt shove in such a spot with flush, mabye some small bet but for sure not shove)
OTR: - Qo comes OTR this is only bad becouse it decreases no. of AQ in his range. Also I dont think that he has guts to call here even with AxKh,AxQh.
- I shove, he tanks and folds , after the hand I couldnt restrain myself and wrote into chat: Sick
Did you drop AK?
- He played like two more hands and then he fled.
Now some math to back it up: EV = (he 3bet OTT and I fold) + (% time he calls OTT)*(( I give up OTR ) + ( I shove OTR )) = (-7/40*2.9) + (33/40)*((-11/45*2.9) + (34/45*(-7/32*11.34 + 25/32*7.42))) = 0.975 usd
without AT in his range : EV = 0.26 usd
