Well the bi-annual "Spend a crap-load of money on sports players" window closed last night with the major stories obviously being:

Apparently Gareth Bale is worth €100m and €300k a week!! This man wins the Sunday million every 3 days!!

Now don't get me wrong, he's a phenominal player and, like Ryan Giggs, the only thing wrong with his is that he's Welsh and thus can't terrorize international defenses becasue he's pretty much Wales' only world class player. It's actually worse in Ryan Gigg's place because he CHOSE to be Welsh because he wasn't sure he'd play for England at International Level....all those trophies we could have won when we had Andy Sinton and Graeme Le Saux playing wide left :(

Be very interesting to see how he does at Real especailly with that price tag on him becasue, and with all due respect, he's not Ronaldo or Messi.

I am looking forward to seeing Ozil at Arsenal though because after showing up Gareth Barry for the carthorse he is at the last World Cup I've been a huge fan and think this is a real coup for Arsenal. Still think they need a striker though. Giroud is top class but not world class and if they're gonna overhaul Utd, City and Chelsea they need World Class up there.

Man Utd, I would be a bit worried. They were ineffective vs Chelsea and Liverpool and really they were in a similar spot before they dragged Scholes out of retirement a season or two ago and just haven't done anything about it and I don't think spending £28m on Fellani is the answer. That said it wouldn't be the first time Utd have been written off and come roaring back and no matter what, they'll still be around there at the end of the season, they're too good and too experienced not too

After the Transfer Activity (£600m spend!!!)

At the start of the season Utd, City and Chelsea were inseperable for the title

Going by what's on Betfair:

Now City are slight favourite at 85/40, with Chelsea next at 12/5 and then Utd way out at 9/2 so obviously the punters think there's a gap now where before there was none

Interestingly the next favourites at 11/1 at Liverpool. Shows what a good start can do, I still think they'll stuggle for Champions League qualification but it seems people are beginning to believe, if only on Merseyside :)

Then it's Arsenal at 13/1 who're definitely going to be strengthened by Ozil but are still al couple of players short in a theadbare squad and then Tottenham are the shock at 22/1.

Not yet scored a goal from open play and looked laboured vs Arsenal at Weekend...personally I'd say no-one outside the Top 3 are worth betting on but if you said after 3 games Liverpool would be 1/2 the odds of Tottenham to win the title I'd be very surprised

As for Top 4:

Chelsea/Utd/City are all certainties, like 2/13 and then Arsenal are the favourite for 4th but Liverpool have pulled ahead of Tottenham so the bookies at least seem to think that it's between Liverpool and Arsenal for now for 4th with Tottenham needing to blend quickly.

Relegation:

Current favourites: Crystal Palace, Hull and Cardiff....yup can't argue...although Sunderland are dangerously close as well...they're just not very good

So there you go random breakdown, of the Premiership so far:

Personally I think Chelsea are still favourites, City are more "The People's Choice" and the money on Liverpool is probably just based on a decent start and not much else...10 games in if they're still top then Merseysiders can start dreaming

Had a bit of a rough day yesterday, I've either taken a bump on the noggin or I've been bitten by some kind of insect, either way got quite a swelling on the back of my head and combined with maybe a tiny bit of catching the sun I was not in a good way last night but Paracetomal and Allergy tabs seem to have sorted it for the most part

Gonna take it easy today and get an early night. Don't want to miss the Weekly LHE show because there's nothing which makes you feel better than chatting about LHE and being called a fish :)

Oh btw: DEFINITELY NSFW [Language]

Maddy wants me to do the next Weekly LHE Show like this but I can't keep up that accent for 2 hours assuming I could even mimick it well in the first place :f_biggrin: :f_biggrin:

Started my last week in Gibraltar

Definitely going to be sad to be leaving. It's been a wonderful 4 weeks so far and the only thing that's really gone wrong is that my laptop charger decided to try and set fire to itself so I have no way of charging my laptop back up as I speak until I get back in the UK

That said it had enough juice left that I was able to transfer the files I needed for my coaching tomorrow off it so we will still be going through the homegame.

It's the Gibraltan National Holiday tomorrow which pretty much mean beer, red and white and throwing balloons at the Spanish...marvellous

National Day in Gibraltar was an amazing experience

The whole thing was just a little bit on the surreal side as I think Gibraltar is the only place in the world where David Cameron would get a standing ovation from thousands of people. (Party Conferences don't count David)

34 degrees C, beer, amazing surroundings and that little haunting knowledge that it's all over in 2 days and I've got to go back to the wonders of a 9 degree C RealFeel(TM) United Kingdom.

The only damper on yesterday was the utterly abject performance from England in the WC Qualifier vs the Ukraine, although it wasn't enough to stop me wearing an England T-Shirt into the office today amongst a crowd of Germans because yes, dear viewer, I have MASSIVE balls unlike our footballers it would seem. (Yes did get pointed and laughed at by Sven)

I honestly don't know where it's going wrong with England atm. That midfield 3 of Lampard, Gerrard and Wiltshere is top class by most definitions of the word and against a thoroughly average Ukranian team I would have expected at least one of them to be able to put their foot on the ball and try and control the game. 90 minutes of abject boredom, however, punctuated by the fact England had 2 threatening plays, one after 2 minutes and the other after 92. Everything else you can put in the skip.

Obviously the result favors us and there's still time for it to knit together and injuries blah blah blah but really the enduring message of last night was "This is what you have to look forward too, and it's a great replacement for vallium"

Would rather have impacted wisdom teeth surgery than watch that match again.

Anyway Coaching tonight at new time 18:00CET and going through the home game4 with a little twist, this should be fun.

I may be cold and a little miserable due to not being in Gib anymore but that doesn't mean I'm not going to throw a load of stuff onto the interwebs :)

Got the Weekly LHE Show with maddy tonight on justin.tv/weeklyLHEshow

Also I've started a Let's Play of Magic 2014. If you want to see someone who was "good enough" to play at the World Championships 6 years ago misclicking wildly then feel free to have a peek

Unfortunately the answer to that question is "pretty much"

When I started the challenge I had no idea how busy I'd be with my self-employed work and other areas as well that I've begun to work on

I had hoped to catch up in the 2nd half of the year but being invited to Gibraltar and working there for 5 week pretty much put pay to that as well (especially when my laptop's charger melted itself)

However, after my experience in Gib things have now ironed out and I've taken a more philospohical approach (I basically tried to do too much too fast and didn't appreciate how much work actually goes into being self-employed) and I will be posting more poker related updates from next month onwards.

The hardest part for me when I went self-employed was separating my work from my personal life. Well, maybe not me in particular, but my other quarter still doesn't understand the difference.
Well done and good luck with it by the way, you need the minerals to do it. :)

I've been playing quite a bit of Magic again recently, really enjoying the new Standard format at the moment, there are many cah-razy things which can be done. It's definitely still an enjoyable hobby but also it's still an expensive one, the best thing you can often do is buy and get rid when the market's right for it, your initial investment may be high but you'll often be able to redeem it

I've also been doing Let's Plays on my 2 Youtube Channels, can't really do much becuase my laptop isn't currently up to it but I can do enough to keep me busy (20 vids over the weekend busy)

Poker-wise I'm beginning to examine more GTO concepts, balance is a good starting point for sure but there may be other areas of GTO-style play which can be added to it without causing too much damage and overall solidifying my ranges on multiple streets.

I'm intending to make a few more live vids in the coming months to supplement the theory videos I do. While the theory videos I am pretty proud of I do understand the desire to see action as well, it's a fine balance I have to maintain really

Weekly LHE Show is back on tonight at 21:00CET on www.justin.tv/weeklyLHEshow where we'll be looking at the Micro Millions final table and in the advanced section some 5/T+ hands which could turn out to be very interesting
