i don't necessarily agree with the way i played it

i thought we were 150bb deep and against a 5bet vs utg he can easily fold QQ/AK/bluffs, and even KK doesn't have a super easy decision, right... or is it?

Spoiler

he might have bluffs, but it's usually going to be value and he prob just flats QQ/AK vs the 3bet. with KK they also tend to pay off somehow, either by shipping or by cry-calling pre and cry-calling post

meh, no other opinions on this drunk hand. lame :f_biggrin:
i guess i'll post my thoughts in the spoiler, then.

Spoiler

as i said in the previous post, considering limit tendencies i think that his 4bet is rly often for value, and given stack depth and that he looks fairly decent... his value range is KK+ only, and as such i'm crushed.

so, best play is to 5bet preflop and, as played, fold turn - folding flop might be too weak as it's not a 100% certainty that he has KK+ only and he prob slows down on turn with weaker holdings.

however...

Turn: (105.5 BB, 2 players) 5♠
UTG requests TIME, UTG bets 115.8 BB and is all-in, Hero says "if its KK i deserved it", Hero calls 100.1 BB and is all-in (?)

River: (305.7 BB, 2 players) 9♥

UTG shows K♠ A♣ (Two Pair, Kings and Nines) (Pre 7%, Flop 13%, Turn 5%)
Hero shows A♠ A♥ (Two Pair, Aces and Nines) (Pre 93%, Flop 87%, Turn 95%)
Hero wins 291.9 BB

while the river was dealt and the pot handed out i wrote some more random nonsense in chat. :f_biggrin:

so it ends up that my inaccurate assumptions were right and i most likely took the best line against his actual range (pretty sure he could find a not-so-hard fold against a 5b), though i think that i couldn't get to these conclusions given the info i had (aka "i was seriously wrong").

so, what does that teach us? that i'm a damn luckbox and sometimes (rarely) two wrongs do end up making a right, i guess. :f_eek: ofc that doesn't make the play +++EV, it was just luck.

if anyone thinks that i'm wrong i'd like to hear other opinions. maybe am i giving him too much credit and it's actually standard for nl10 regs to randomly shove AKo utgvco 150bb deep :f_eek:

hey, thanks

i'm back to evaluating hands in the nanostakes forum. i'll take mostly nl5-nl10 hands, specially fast fold format ones.

the main reason as to why i stopped was not because i was lazy (though that certainly counted), but rather because i wasn't feeling qualified.
the current hand evaluation team is very good and fast, and they should be better players than me.

however, i think that it's fair enough to consider myself well qualified to judge these stakes (this is my nl10 graph for this year) and i try to give my best in every hand that i evaluate in these forums, i hope that it shows.
in any case, if you don't like my evaluations/don't want me to evaluate your hands/don't think i am qualified, i can understand, i've been in a similar spot :P just post here/message me privately/whatever, i can take it.

see you!

i don't expect him to fold any pocket pair to one bet, but i expect him to fold enough of them on the turn given the action. fd is good backup equity

Hi,

Impressive 17bb /100 win rate you have their over 46k hands. Even if you ran at ev it would still be above 10bb/100 and that's definitely qualified to judge nl10. How is your play at the next higher limit like and what are your plans to move up? The hands you are posting are on fast tables and not zoom? Or am I reading it wrongly?

Thanks

hey sir, thanks for passing by!

i think that pokertracker nowadays just calls all quickfold type tables (in all networks) "fast", though i think i also remember that it used to be different.
these hands are all zoom, it's definitely the format i enjoy the most.

as for my plans... i'll probably get back to business sometime in the next months.
i'm just playing for fun and booze money right now, i'm somewhat busy with rl issues and don't want to get too stressed. with the amount i have in the ewallet i am actually almost rolled for nl50
anyway, the plan when i get back is to run good on nl25 for 20k hands or something (get that psychological cushion) and then get on with moving up and going pr00z (or not really). we'll see :f_biggrin:

so it's november :f_eek: feels like this year passed by pretty quickly.

anyway i think that i'll have a fair amount of free time for the rest of the year, so it seems like a good time to try to focus and get back to playing "seriously", climbing up the stakes again and going pr00z. :f_biggrin:

as opposed to the other times i have posted a "serious update" in here, this time it should actually be for realzies, as i've already been playing some nl25 behind the scenes for the past few days.
i'm also trying to get some things going that should help me greatly :f_love:

in fact, now i remember the things that i hate about nl25:
- the "skill range" between regs is wiiiiiiiiide, and so it's pretty hard to guess at which level a random unknown reg that you have no hands on is thinking at.
- i always run fucking terrible at it. :f_biggrin: (29/oct graph, ruined the month's nl25 total non-volume ) i am overrolled and know that i have the skillset though, so whatever, that's poker. :f_biggrin:

anyway, i guess that the fact that the skill level range is wide + player pool is wide should be an incentive to brush up my theoretical game and "standard" game plan, which i feel that are rather weak, if i may say so myself.
after reading this post, it feels clear that i am often figuring the on the spot what is the best decision... and, while i think that i often get it right, i could definitely work at it away from the tables instead.

so... yeah, i'm not sure if this post's cohesion is too good, but whatever. instead of whineboxing let's post one of these hands that makes us smile when it goes our way :f_biggrin:

thanks

i guess that my goal for the month will be to get the following message pretty often:

(the thread limit is 20/day, in case anyone is wondering)

in accordance to what's in my previous post, i post a lot of "standard" spots.

how standard are they really? as opposed to many that post only the biggest pots, i believe that the most important spots are those that happen with a high frequency.
that means "fundamentals", preflop ranges, flop ranges and hand planning. while being coolered all the time is quite not cool, it doesn't really matter that much in the long run :P

from these days i have seen a bunch of spazzy tendencies, both in myself and in my opponents i'd say that i'm generally being too much of a station and valuebetting too thin against weaker players, i think.

here are some random things:

hello sir!

id like to ask why is JJ hand a bad call? considering that he flat your raise preflop, its unlikely he has 2 or 7 in his range and QQ+ most likely would be a reraise pre? (thats just my tought process, please point it out if im wrong) :)

ps. laughed hard on that gif :D

i said "potentially" i tend to agree with the comments here.

he could have a trapping range and/or call 87s oop because too pretty to fold, happens often. :f_biggrin:
they often don't continue pure bluffs on the turn too (and they shouldn't), so i was actually mostly hoping to see and eventually ... a hand like the one he had most often just plays passively because nothing worse calls and nothing better folds (what was he thinking? probably ZOMFG raise for protection!!1!1) :f_biggrin:

anyway i'm a station so i never fold anyway i guess, if you rep an unlikely hand you'll have to show it (at least for the first time)... they always have it though :f_biggrin:

on the topic of brilliant reg plays...
everyone knows that a trendy line nowadays is to donk with your strong hands, as a way to induce spaz and also because a c/r might look too strong.
this is NOT how you are supposed to do it:

how do you deal with these days where you just feel like your play is garbage?

today was one of those.
ran somewhat good for a while, then the realization i wasn't quite at my best came after a marginal river call (umm, this might not have been good). some time later, i was given the chance to make another bad river call (ZOMGWTF type), which was gladly taken. after that i was 1.2 BI down :f_biggrin:
clearly not satisfied with that amount of loss, i went on to spew some more money until i was 2 BI down. then i finally thought that was enough :f_eek:

i could feel the tiredness/lack of focus/w/e after the first call, but i talked myself into playing more. then i clearly should have quit after the second bad call (and suboptimal decisions all over), but i played on anyway. what do?

it's ok though, i just printed a reminder to punch myself in the face when that happens.
that kind of bad session DOES NOT get better. what the hell am i hoping for?

here's some regs spazzing out. wtf?

posting a first week update. poker ez, just win all flips:

Spoiler

technical play: B
studying: B
luck: somewhat good

technical play: it all goes wrong when i try to get too fancy/too "balanced"/too anything and start doubting my intuition. my microlimits intuition is mostly pretty good (if i may say so myself), so i should trust it :f_biggrin:
sometimes i also dragged on a few sessions where i was clearly not doing well and these should have been stopped. at least i eventually found the quit button, but should have been found earlier.

studying: got lazy these last few days. :f_biggrin: i'm happy with some random progress, and with that i am actually folding more buttons, though :f_eek: 90% RFI on button isn't sustainable as i move up, unfortunately :P

luck: don't get me wrong, i had a few of "those" sessions where you just feel like you can't win a single damn pot, but i think that these were also offset by some rungood sessions.
so it's probably fair to say that i ran pretty decent. also good AI luck ofc :f_biggrin:

tip: nl25 regs mostly don't have anything when they raise somewhat unconnected boards! have fun with it.

this one was interesting.
i would call any non-spade (though turn is also bad because it completes some gutters), but river was damn terrible, spade+counterfeit my 2p. so i considered turning my hand into a bluff, but then the whole thing didn't make sense to me.
spades would vbet, flopped twopair+ have a fullhouse or quads (and i block them) and pretty much no one in nl25 is a sick ass thin valuebettor who goes for a c/r with AT, and definitely not with that sizing.
and a straight would probably c/c because hell, why not. so i don't make anything better fold and just have to cbh and hope for the best.

here's some piece of common sense advice: don't play your usual stakes while drunk.

despite what i already knew, and my habit of playing at least one limit lower when i feel like that, i somehow did it again yesterday.
WTF what is this, it doesn't even make any sense? (besides some other random hands)

WTF: i swear that the guy had minraised preflop :f_eek: postflop is ????????
this: loool this saved the session. i assumed that the fishes would go mental for absolutely no good reason, and they did! isn't it so much fun when you take a terrible line and get rewarded?

anyway this is how "this" went:

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has K♣ Q♦

fold, fold, fold, BTN raises to 3 BB, Hero raises to 9.6 BB, BB calls 8.6 BB, BTN calls 6.6 BB

Flop: (28.8 BB, 3 players) 7♣ 5♣ K♠
Hero requests TIME, Hero checks, BB checks, BTN bets 28 BB, Hero calls 28 BB, BB calls 28 BB

Turn: (112.8 BB, 3 players) 8♦
Hero requests TIME, Hero checks, BB bets 33 BB, BTN raises to 47.6 BB and is all-in, Hero raises to 87.12 BB and is all-in, BB calls 54.12 BB

River: (334.64 BB, 3 players) 4♥

Hero shows K♣ Q♦ (One Pair, Kings) (Pre 38%, Flop 58%, Turn 76%)
BB shows J♣ A♣ (High Card, Ace) (Pre 43%, Flop 40%, Turn 24%)
BTN shows A♦ T♠ (High Card, Ace) (Pre 19%, Flop 2%, Turn 0%)
Hero wins 326.64 BB

props to btn for playing it like a pro, if there's a number that could represent BTN's fold equity in the turn spot it would be somewhere around -100 or something.

anyway after this hand i somehow realized "ZOMGWTF am i doing" and managed to close the session with a pretty good profit (about +1.5BI) instead of losing 3 or something like i deserved.
so... variance is pretty high in short term pokers, i run good, cool story? :f_biggrin:

well, luck gives karma takes lost 3bi on saturday.
point taken though: just fold to river bets on this limit, it's not worth it. it seems like i have to lose a few buyins every week in order to be reminded of that :f_biggrin:

on the other hand, i was thinking about something... just how can people zoom 4+ tables?
i mean, it's ok if you're pr00z with experience and a solid base game plan that you know by heart, but for the average microlimits reg... just sounds like "no".

i watched the "TwiceT and friends" coaching where they reviewed some guy playing 4 zoom tables.
his play mostly looked pretty good to me, but TT still said something to the effect that some EV was lost due to autopiloting, play less tables, think about every decision... something like that.

so... what's my point? idk, but i guess it's something like if you're struggling on your new limit or something, try cutting out some tables. it's pretty amazing how much info there's available in each hand which is often unused or not even noticed!
no wonder that most zoom microlimit regs can fall victim to blatant exploitation :f_biggrin: imo you rly need a very solid game before you start to 4table zoom.
