HU. 99 versus unknown
$0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 2 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

Hero (SB): $64.94 (129.9 bb)
BB: $80.62 (161.2 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with T A
Hero raises to $1.50, BB calls $1

Flop: ($3) 8 6 J (2 players)
BB bets $2.25, Hero calls $2.25

Turn: ($7.50) A (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

River: ($7.50) 7 (2 players)
BB bets $76.87 and is all-in, Hero calls $61.19 and is all-in

I liked the turn very much, well I decided to check and was expecting a lot of shoves on the river from him. the board is not as nice as it was on the turn. as expected he shoves (the suspicious thing was that he typed smth like "go all in?" and I read that when people type smth into the chat they usually don't bluff as it's huge decision. for me it works 50\50 as some guys make you fold the best hand with this chatting). well, according to that he was agro too much and shoved lots of times and I made nitty folds so lost big part of his stack back I decided to call.

Hi blumpkin

Against guys that keep shoving rivers you can't keep folding.

I'm wondering why are we not betting the turn with top pair? You have to get value there and you may have been afraid of a raise. But if you check back with the plan to call a shove how can we fold (when we checked for this reason alone)?

because I wanted to give him possibility to shove with trash on the river. I saw more value from check calling shove on the river. I thought that this guy wouldn't call a lot and I would see lots of folds here. also my check shows more weakness and would induce more bluffs. so I see more value from check/calling rather than bet bet

Then if you planned to check turn to call a shove you can't really fold the river now can we? :f_biggrin:

This type of play is 100% read based as it's of course very "gambly"
