Yes, I had second thoughts about the whole idea, too.
So while I was in Costco to get AA batteries (they sell them in bulk, really cheap and v good batteries) I noticed that they had the "Roomba" robotic vacuum cleaners for a decent price.
I got her that instead.
The story doesn't end there.
My son's girlfriend asked Mrs Vorpal what she wanted/needed, and Mrs Vorpal replied, "Help".
Kim presented my lovely wife with a booklet of coupons each good for a 4 hour session of some form of housework.
Better than my idea by a country mile.
