This is such a good post to learn from.

There was superb advice provided by both Cannell & fongie, that is based on a lot of experience from a lot of people over a long period of time.

It's such a shame that their efforts to help others has not been listened to with the respect that they deserve.

Whilst every member is entitled to try out whichever route they prefer and to have their own opinions, imo a safer long term goal through hard work, patience and low risk strategy is always preferable to the high risk, low BR strategy adopted by the OP however good he/she maybe.

I don't doubt that the OP is a good player, I actually agree with them that this was luck (a downswing) that was the problem, but with such a low BR/high table stakes ratio, luck plays a much more significant part than skill and he/she didn't stand a chance.

I have sufficient BR now & lots of additional cash available to invest to play NL200 or NL500 if I so desired, but currently grinding NL10 (and proud of it). Afterall, learning SO much which can only be beneficial when/if I decide to step up.

Why run and get all sweaty when you can walk and take in the view.

Above all have fun, whatever you choose to do.

p.s. Just in case I too get shouted at, for the record, the PokerStrategy registration date is just what it says it is, most players have been playing poker a lot longer. The PokerStrategy status just indicates current playing activity on the linked poker site and not overall experience across all poker sites.

The only reason you might get "shouted at" is for playing NL10 ♦
Waaaaaaay to chummy for an experienced player and the rake, well, simply change the k to a p, rape, thats more appropriate.
What are you hoping to learn at NL10, haven't you had enough freerolls? (<-- cheeky remark) ♦

OK, I have talked with the coaches and pros and they have this solution for you to make money, fast! Just follow these simple steps and you are sure to hit paydirt.
1) Move into your parents attic, dont pay rent and claim "squatters rights"
2) Leech free wireless internet from your dad or nieghbor. Hack the password if you need to
3) Get a job thats pays twice minimum wage such as ditch digging, chicken catching, gabage disposal or donating to local sperm bank (USA only)
4) Work said job 8 hours per day 6 days per week and deposit 80% of earnings into online poker
5) Grind online poker 8 hours per day 6 days per week at whatever level you want. If you have no bankroll then play freerolls.
6) Only eat rice and drink water, raid the parents fridge when possible
7) Only break to take a crap, anything else, keep an empty milk jug near your computer (no buying toilet paper or other hygene products, thats a money leak)
8) No smoking, no drinking, no drugging and no whoring (unless it's your 8 hour job)
9) If you have a wife, divorce her first, she is a money leak, you will end up -50% EV
10) No friends allowed, they will distract you and try to take your money when you are sleeping.
11) Sleep all day once per week, you will need it.

@davidangel, Why would we "shout" at someone playing NL10? Building a roll is something everyone has to do.

BTW, we dont "shout" at anyone. We only try to give advice.

I know your previous post was tongue in cheek, no offence taken.

Having played for a number of years whilst running at a loss (albeit a very small one), I want to go right back to basics and learn, learn, learn.
If I can find & plug almost all leaks at low level, should come easier (& cheaper ♦) at higher level.
If you view my blog From humble beginnings, how much pie will be eaten? (shameless plug), you will see I'm actually a pretty useful SNG player and have a good ITM rate for MTT's, but for now I want to concentrate on my worse area... cash tables. Theory is that one will help the other.

Not in it for the money pursay, just fun. If money comes then it will just add/increase the fun. But like I said, each to their own agenda.

There are many ways to make a million, including but not limited to:

1) start with $50 free and work your way up
2) start with $500,000 & bet it all on red or black on roulette
3) start with $2,000,000 & bet half on red or black ♦
