PokerStars - $0.25 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

Hero (BTN): $51.88
SB: $25.00
BB: $33.41
UTG: $29.44
MP: $27.62
CO: $41.50

SB posts SB $0.10, BB posts BB $0.25

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.35) Hero has 2♥ 9♥

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.50, SB calls $0.40, fold

Flop: ($1.25, 2 players) 2♠ 4♠ J♦
SB checks, Hero bets $0.80, SB calls $0.80

Turn: ($2.85, 2 players) K♥
SB checks, Hero bets $2.20, SB raises to $7.25, Hero raises to $50.58 and is all-in

Villain is a 4tabling reg with 570 hands sample.

VPIP/PFR = 22/16
F2cbet F = 48%
F2cbet T = 0% (0/6)
AFq = 48%
WWSF = 53%
2bet T = 25% (3/12)
F2st SBvsBU = 87% (13/15)

Villain seems to be very bluffheavy OTT when he raises. I block 22, 44 often raise Flop. JJ and KK 3bet pre. KJs are just 2 combos. I think KJo is more likely in his folding or 3betting range.

Your thoughts?

29s too weak to open as a default.

I don't think we should be barreling the turn with what looks to be just about our entire range that isn't Jx here.

I think your reasoning on his turn range makes sense. The only problem I have with the shove is how you are dealing with frequencies?
If you are doing this with 29s are you doing it with all 2's and all 4's?
Because that's something like 12 set combos for value and 90 bluffing combos if you're opening something like 70% from the BTN. A little less if you remove some spade combos.

You really only should be doing this with a few combos of 4x/2x, or else even if villain is bluff heavy, (which we don't know, all we know is he probably shouldn't be raising this spot often), you're going to come up against KJ or some slowplayed sets too often to have a profitable shove with a very bluff heavy range.

I generally open wide on the Button, cause people fold too much. Of course I adapt to the players in SB and BB. So I think not much to talk about this.

I exploit villains bluff heavy range, so I don't care about frequencies. Ranges are very asymmetric here. And yes I would ship all 2x and 4x (and some other semibluffs too).

Do you think villain starts ch/raise/broke with plain Jx or Kx then? I think thats one level too far. Maybe he doesn't even know that he has almost no value hands in that spot.

yeah, still have to agree that you are probably bluffing too much, i mean my gut is that even if villain is folding often he still has enough value combos to defend against the shove (you have like 0% eq when called)

that said too, i think that this plays about decent by checking behind ott and calling lots of rivers. i dunno, all options suck yeah :f_biggrin: i figure you wanted to 3barrel, which is whatever i guess.

The thing is though, you don't know that he is bluff heavy. All you know, is that he shouldn't be raising this spot very often. For all you know, he could be raising this spot only with value, every time.

Ok, if villain has KJs or 44 then it's like that. Bluffs sometimes get catched. But you agree that my range is way more nutted than his? What about draws he could be raising?

well your range is uncapped etc, but when you are shipping all 2x 4x your shove frequency goes off the charts, so he should probably be able to defend enough even if he has no idea how wide you are there.

Ok, thanks for now guys! I really appreciate your contribution (the other threads too)! Maybe the expert has some good input too.

Preflop: This is a top 75-80% hand, so both blinds must be playing really tight for you to be opening this profitably. I guess SB seems tight when he plays 22/16 so this could be fine if BB is tight as well.

Flop: I think either bet or check is fine. If you bet, probably consider bluff catching vs small bets on low/blank runouts with all the draws busting.

Turn: Don't bet here - I suspect you are probably bluffing here with like a 100% range which is a bad idea cos the easy adjustment to you is to almost never fold anything on the turn.

I think the biggest mistake here is that you are making far too many assumptions based on an extremely small sample. 12 turn spots tell you nothing IMO.

Yeah betting Turn is really bad. I focused too much on how to play vs that ch/r. Thanks for your answer!
