Hello everyone,

I am a uni student and I recently came in contact with the poker world through some university mates. At the beginning of this month I decided to take a shot at it and see were I can get. I started of with a 50 pound deposit (~80$) at 2NL zoom. The first few days were disastrous with my bankroll going down to about 45$, at which point I decided to undertake some coaching. Coach shaddonewin took me under his wing and helped me turn the situation around.

Yesterday my bankroll hit 110$. The initial plan was for me to use the 40+10 BI rule to move up limits, that is to say 40x2 + 10x5 = 130$, however the coach decided that I was ready to take a shot at it. So I hit the 5NL zoom tables today and made 5 buy-ins which in combination with a rake-back release pushed my bankroll to 145$.

The plan currently is to try and reach 300$ within a week, playing about 2-3K hands a day, in order to move up to 10NL, at which point I will also be incorporation the use of a HUD in my game. A further interim goal is to increase my tables from 2 to 3, and eventually 4, (any help on efficiently increasing my tables would be much appreciated), before I hit 10NL. The long-term goal is to reach 10K by the end of 2014.

Here are a few graphs tracking my progress:

At the moment I am planning on updating you guys on my progress on a weekly basis, with a short summary of what has happened over each week and a graph. If however any interesting hands come up or any other peculiarity I will be sharing them with you too in between my weekly updates.

P.S.: My pokerstars username is howsyouranus (LOLs).

Ah you found it, excellent!

Good luck with the blog and climbing those stakes, it can get a bit rocky but stay strong and keep working hard and you should get there.

I've posted this blog link for inspiration, in case things go a bit haywire along the way!

Beat- I'm broke, but with hope

Regards,

Mal.
