The effects of poker on life

Hah, that movie speeding is a good idea, maybe i will be able to watch Game of thrones that way ♦

After i pointed out to Charlie that he is too result oriented in his blog about other opinions, it got me thinking and i realized, that i am doing a lot of result oriented things in real life, prob less than others, but even if i know how to deal with it in poker and understand how it works i am not really applying it in into my real life and i think that is very useful skill to have, so just take a look at what you are doing and from time to time check if you are not result oriented.

I have been here for 4 years now and in this thread i prob have written more than all that time together. ♦ Reason for that in my mind is - i feel like i can maybe help out someone and this stuff matters and in the end i can take something out of it too (win- win) as i see it. So everyone who have made it this far please share your stories.

Corey, be careful as we know pokerstars and football don't go well together apparently, talking about Dale Philips incident, what's your view on that situation, it would be interesting to hear from another pokerstars pro.

Most importantly: single life is sweet. Tinder is sweet.

I can't give much tips since i never had problems with gfs and poker. I attribute this mostly to a) smart & overall awesome gfs b) they are not around when i play >99% of my hands.

I read his whole blog post, he was just being a normal Scot, there is legit nothing wrong with what he did. Shame really, I guess even though they invest in you, they're not really investing in you.

My 2 cents on that matter is that he was out of line a bit, but it's football, as that kind of hand gesture and celebration can seem to be very offensive to others and it is very individual thing what you see there and how you feel about it, as you said he is being a normal Scot, but i know that in some countrys with that kind of celebration in front of local crowd, you just got yourself ticket to the hospital after the game to rest for a week or two. So it would be wise to think about that next time, if yu are not in your local pub.

Saddest thing in all this is how pokerstars dealt with that, ofc if you see just the video it might seem offensive (as i said individual thing) but terminating contract without asking for explanation or giving the guy a chance to speak for himself, it just seems very unprofessional to me.

Imo there is something written in PS's agreement with their team. The biggest problem to my eyes seems to be he is wearing PS outfits, therefore representing them.

I might try wearing a PokerStrategy shirt once, do that and see how my bosses react haha ♦

Again as i said, i could care less, but it kind seems logical to me that a company as big as pokerstars doesn't tolarate those things.

We are only a bit offtopic, this is the lesson where we see that every action has it's consequences and you need to be aware of what you are doing all the time especially if you are sponsored pro.

Yeah i can agree with you, i have read only about people being on Dales side, as most football fans sees nothing wrong there, so i tried to put my points as gentle as i could ♦ i am not a football fan, so i think it's offensive, but i have no clue what were their contract details (what he can or cant do and how detailed it is), i am still a total fish in that area, i wouldn't have behave like that in the first place and i just don't like football that much ♦

I only said that about explanation or giving the guy a chance to talk about it and sort it out somehow maybe, as i had imagine they care more about their pros, so i just expected different approach from them, thats all. If we look from business side it makes sense if he broke the rules of their contract, it got terminated, simple as that.

Sorry bout yer breakup bro! I know meds never helped me get anywhere other than the pain meds I had to take while trying to keep working in construction(got squashed under a track-hoe bucket when I was 25). My advice to you would be to get rid of the drugs yer docs pushin on you, eat healthier, get to the gym three times a week, swim and buckle down on yer studies. Maybe, and this is the hard part, stop playing poker for a while (two months). Two months might seem like a long time but its not really. I just came back to the game after taking a year off. Look after yourself! If you want to be in a meaningful relationship you can't be playing as much. Relationships take alot of effort to maintain, anykind of relationship for that matter. Neglect the person and you will quickly find they don't have time for you anymore. I know. I've bin there. Happy days n happy plays!
