PokerStars - $0.50 PL Hi (6 max) - Omaha Hi - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

UTG: 93.94 BB (VPIP: 31.90, PFR: 3.68, 3Bet Preflop: 1.19, Hands: 166)
MP: 101.5 BB (VPIP: 26.92, PFR: 19.15, 3Bet Preflop: 10.01, Hands: 2,996)
CO: 50.94 BB (VPIP: 72.73, PFR: 9.09, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 11)
BTN: 94.96 BB (VPIP: 19.62, PFR: 13.00, 3Bet Preflop: 5.40, Hands: 1,599)
SB: 172.78 BB (VPIP: 33.33, PFR: 33.33, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 12)
Hero (BB): 100 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 8♠ A♦ 2♦ A♥

fold, fold, CO calls 1 BB, BTN raises to 4.5 BB, fold, Hero calls 3.5 BB, fold

Flop: (10.5 BB, 2 players) 6♥ 6♣ 5♠
Hero checks, BTN bets 6.8 BB, Hero calls 6.8 BB

Turn: (24.1 BB, 2 players) J♣
Hero checks, BTN bets 13.8 BB, Hero raises to 52 BB,

Since he is quite the nit I rarely give him trips+ on the flop. The turn opens up a lot of barreling options for him with all kinds of overpairs, flushdraws, pairs, striaghtdraws etc. I'm pretty confident that I'm ahead of his betting range, however, it will be tough to play a large portion of river cards OOP if I c/c. So I decided to turn the best hand basically into a bluff and make him fold his equity and especially his positional advantage. Thoughts on that?

Interesting thoughts, vs someone who barrels alot/any draw ott i like it alot, but im not sure how light a nit is semibluffing/vbetting here.

My standard play would be call/call/x/fold, although it is really face up.

i probably want to raise smaller OTT with my range, to like 33 BB. pot OTR will be 90 then w/ 80 behind which enables us to shove quite polarized.

i would x/f this specific hand otr w/o reads because i expect to be good some times if it goes check/check and shove w/ boats and air (789, 78:c:c, KKJx e.g.)

I don't think raising small accomplishes much here. If we are dead it makes no difference and we have no FE anyway. If he has a draw he is less likely to fold if you raise smaller, and since he is polarized himself on the river with a draw (air or he got there) it doesn't matter how much we bet, he will fold his air anyway.

yeah but his draws are also just a bluffcatcher otr, even if they got there. Having more behind really makes it harder for him to call down.

And vs your perceived Value x/r range he also has a hard time calling the turn.

true, i'm just not sure people call turns with draws in order to fold river even though they got there. i guess if you have a large enough c/r turn, c/f river range it makes sense to c/r smaller.
by potting you just generate a ton of FE on the turn, the FE against air on the river doesn't matter but you reduce your overall river FE by removing a lot of draws from his river range. i don't know what's better, help skod :)

Hi,

here it kinda depends on what level both of you are. If a reg does this to me it looks fishy, since it's a perfect bluff spot as i can't have much to call here. But knowing that i can call with more right?

anyways i would just c/c - you basically have a good bluffcatcher, and after you call twice there is noone betting the river here as a bluff at plo50, and not even most players higher up, since a 6xxx is a big part of your range to call twice, along with KK+.

If you do raise you should make it smaller. Why make it so expensive for you? If he is good he is gonna call his made hands, so i would never fire river after getting called, as he will also check behind his sdv.

Regards,

Skod

I'm less concerned with being bluffed on the river but more with being outdrawn as his turn betting range consists of a lot of draws imo. It also doesn't matter if he checks these better hands behind on the river because he fears I have a 6 and doesn't think he can vbet his flush, straight etc., I still lose the hand in that case. I want to deny him all these draws but granted I pay an expensive price for it once I pot. I'm still not sure about the sizing as I want to protect against strong draws, but he could also be dead so my FE could be large enough even with the smaller sizing.

along with KK+.

Maybe I'm too spewy but I'd always 3barrel in BTNs shoes if I knew for sure villain had KK/AA.

Hi,

yeah you should barr vs KK and AA, most people don't tho.

I know what you are saying, but i think this is the type of hand that is too strong to turn into a bluff. I would mind you doing this with Jxxx here.

Skod
