I just wanted to let you know that The Pirate Bay (and a lot more torrent sites) and all the backup sites it ever had are gone... Very recently, the police stormed their headquarters and (for the first time in the existence of the site) they confiscated all of their servers and equipment.
thepiratebay.cr emerged for the moment, but it's unfunctional and contains no torrents. EDIT: this site turned out to be a scam to make a quick buck, it does not contain TPB's torrents.
I'm sure you can find more info about it on google, if you're interested.
I'd be very happy if the site made a comeback, but not even the founders seem too optimistic about it this time.
I see this event as tragic, as this site offered poor countries free entertainment for more than a decade. You can't expect someone who has a monthly income of not even $300 to pay up to $100 for a game, movie, music album or educational material, and do they really not deserve it after working twice as hard for a fraction of the money than an employee from a richer country? Sure, an american can easily afford those at any moment, but the same thing can not be said about the average african or east european.
Also, if the king of all torrent sites is gone, how long will it take for the others to follow?
So, thanks, TPB, you were the greatest while you lasted!
