Change playback speed on videos

Thank you for the suggestion.

I am still not convinced about this feature in the first place - especially considering what it does to the audio. Also not sure how many members would actually use it regularly.

I understand the need to have things run slower sometimes, but our educational content is all about the producer's thoughts - and frequent pauses with the occasional rewind are probably a better solution for the careful learner - at least that's how I do it when I learn from or review a video.

Also, our product team won't be too happy about it running on just chrome and safari, as it will create problems for the other, more mainstream browsers (e.g. IE and Firefox).

Promise to note it down and suggest it in the future, if compatibility improves.

I was about to ask the exact same thing!! It would be very useful for me to have that feature available on videos.

I already ask the same thing on the Portuguese comunity and was about to ask it here, but it seems someone have already done that.

Hope to hear news regarding this matter, since it is a way I usually do to save time.

Still no unified support for it.

I tried it locally with one of the videos and the audio became horrendous - couldn't concentrate anymore at all...

Have you tried it with a video with audio commentary? I can't imagine that being better than pausing and rewinding, but maybe I am wrong.

If it works like on youtube. It's perfect! The quality of the audio changes (but I am used to it). Try on youtube on a random video and change the velocity, then you'll see how it should be like.

I have also been looking for a way to speed up the videos and found this extension for chrome:

Works perfectly, installation adds two small buttons on the top left of every Html5 video to adjust playback speed.

I came here to suggest the same thing. But it looks like this chrome extension does the job perfectly. Thanks Garvante!
