I like the flat pre because the whale in the BB.

Given how wide the whale is and that with his high 3bet he doesn't have TT+ I would call flop and evaluate turn.

There's also a good chance that these huge whales raise 8x for some kind of protection/value, if he checks back turn you can value bet most rivers(for about 1/2 pot) including since he would most likely follow through on the turn with a flush draw and his range would be heavily weighted towards 8x and smaller pairs which raise for protection.

If the turn is a diamond and he bets I fold.

If he bets big on an overcard or a blank I fold as well. If he bets 1/2 pot I would continue on any card but an A. Since he would would have all A6,A7,Axs combos that may play this way.

And why don't we let the whale bet himself on the flop?

I think flop lead is a decent option in this spot. We don't want to risk giving free cards in a 3-way pot on this texture. There is no guarantee the whale bets, it's better we bet ourselves.

Obviously not a great spot to face a raise from BB here. Many guys do not raise light 3-way. We are aware that he could be raising worse for value though if he is bad. We should probably make a crying call on the flop and evaluate turn - but vs some guys at this limit it can easily end up being an exploitative flop-fold, especially in the multi-way situation.
