Actually you're just playing horribly. And are winning only by luck when you do win. :f_thumbsup:

AQ) preflop looks ok, flop ok, turn close between raise and call given his bet size. Raise folding turn is an option river you probably can shove for value.

AJ) Limping behind is terrible at these stakes against a fish preflop. Definitely isolate. Flop is good, turn is okay, I would bet 0.2d. River is a x/call against most ppl. the fact that you bet there kind of proves you have no idea what you are doing.

KJ) river w. the KJ is a pretty clear x/fold if we would face a bet that isn't super small. Preflop call still probably too loose for a beginner.

QJ) postflop terrible preflop depends a lot on who you play against.

KJ(the last), interesting.

from wikipedia article on Doyle Brunson
Brunson has two Texas hold'em hands named after him. One hand, a ten and a two of any suit, bears his name because he won the No Limit Hold 'Em event at the World Series of Poker two years in a row with them (1976 and 1977), in both cases completing a full house. In both 1976 and 1977, he was an underdog in the final hand. Another hand known as a "Doyle Brunson," especially in Texas, is the ace and queen of any suit because, as he says on page 519 of Super/System, he "never plays this hand." He changes his wording in Super/System 2, however, noting that he "tries to never play this hand."

So it looks like you're not the only one who has trouble w/ AQ.
Let's face it -- you're not even a 2:1 preflop favourite vs a random hand:

       Equity     Win     Tie
MP2    64.43%  63.51%   0.92% { AQo }
MP3    35.57%  34.64%   0.92% { random }

But you don't often encounter people playing random hands.
So let's look at AQo equity vs the top 25% of hands:

       Equity     Win     Tie
MP2    60.16%  57.51%   2.64% { AQo }
MP3    39.84%  37.20%   2.64% { 66+, A2s+, K6s+, Q8s+, J8s+, T8s+, A7o+, K9o+, QTo+, JTo }

Yikes!

Best of luck,

As you can see, NutzAreOk already answered your single question.

If you want to do these sorts of things (and more) just download Equilab (it is free), and you can do a lot of different analyses.

Enjoy,

the difference is really minimal twixt aq and ak, yet aq is perceived as such a "don't play it" hand.

thanks for posting.

This is true -- vs a random hand they are nearly the same,
The problem is that we're not often playing vs random hands.

According to equilab's built-in ranges, a loose 6-max UTG is playing something like:
22+,ATs+,KJs+,QJs,JTs,T9s,98s,87s,76s,65s,ATo+,KJo+

The equities are then:

       Equity     Win     Tie
MP2    47.71%  44.44%   3.27% { 22+, ATs+, KJs+, QJs, JTs, T9s, 98s, 87s, 76s, 65s, ATo+, KJo+ }
MP3    52.29%  49.02%   3.27% { AQo }

The equity gap gets a little wider.

       Equity     Win     Tie
MP2    43.32%  40.06%   3.26% { 22+, ATs+, KJs+, QJs, JTs, T9s, 98s, 87s, 76s, 65s, ATo+, KJo+ }
MP3    56.68%  53.43%   3.26% { AKo }

But BOTH hands are drawing hands. Usually, neither wins if you don't hit a pair before the opponent.

Best of luck,
VS

thanks for that vorpal, have also learned to stop overvaluing ak so much pre-flop, as well as aq. as you said, it is a drawing hand, just looks pretty pre.
