Villain seemingly strong reg. 34/30, 76 hands Ag 3.5.

I think this is fine though I wondered whether a good reg could assume that I don't have KQ in my flatting range in this position and conclude I can never have the nuts? Are people bluff check raising in these spots enough for me to call at nl100?

39/54 but only 19 hands. 3 Tabling Zoom 100 so assumed reg. Agression 10.0

Flop seems pretty standard to me. I guess 3betting flop out of the question this deep. Turn is also a call given implieds. River I chickened out, thinking he can fold everything here except the nfd which he should probably ch/R(?) But if I'm not betting this river then the turn call is much closer... Hmmm I think I have to bet this, right? I mean he checks sets/two pair but maybe he will bet worse flushes so we really should be ahead of his checking range nine times out of ten.

If he bets river $50 are we just calling?

3bet or fold pre imo :f_drink:

and if you get to the river and feel you have to check back the second nuts, surely something's gone badly wrong somewhere. :roto2:

First foray into the wonderful world of Zoom 200nl:

MP: $215.74 (107.9 bb)
CO: $207.23 (103.6 bb)
Hero (BTN): $324.24 (162.1 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 6 K
2 folds, CO raises to $4, Hero raises to $10, 2 folds, CO calls $6

Flop: ($23) 6 Q K (2 players)
CO bets $10.98, Hero calls $10.98

Turn: ($44.96) 3 (2 players)
CO checks, Hero bets $21.47, CO raises to $50, Hero calls $28.53

River: ($144.96) 9 (2 players)
CO bets $136.25, Hero calls $136.25

Results:

Spoiler

$417.46 pot ($2.80 rake)
Final Board: 6 Q K 3 9
CO showed A T and lost (-$207.23 net)
Hero showed 6 K and won $414.66 ($207.43 net)

Dunno if this standard postflop. I guess if it is that we have a pretty easy call off even without the flush...

2 folds, Hero raises to $5, BTN calls $5, SB folds, BB calls $3

Flop: ($16) K 2 T (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $10.08, BTN folds, BB raises to $28, Hero calls $17.92

Turn: ($72) 9 (2 players)

River: ($116) 4 (2 players)
BB bets $38, Hero raises to $278.54 and is all-in, BB folds

Villain: 32/34, 3b 6.3., 70 hands.

I'm not sure about flop; we block the most obvious draw in which case maybe I can just fold right away? Turn is fine for price.

OTR, I think we do a good job of repping QJ which we'd play exactly this way. Villain looks like he can't have better than KT here and actually it looks more like AK/KQ/JK from sizing. My huge river sizing looks pretty unbalanced, however. I guess QJ is the same as KK/TT here, though since it doesn't look like he can ever have any of those holdings...

Grateful for anyone's opinion on this hand.

Hi, Tim64!
His T & R bets look like either blocking bets or trap set-ups.
Do you need to put up your entire stack OTR to find out which?

Note: This limit is way above my pay grade!

Cheers,
VS

No, I don't think we do. Our raise just needs to be big enough to offer a genuine disincentive to calling.

However I'd be surprised if villain is trapping that much. Our hand looks like a good top pair but not much better (until we raise the river) so I think he'll be missing value most of the time by betting so small, if in fact he has a hand strong enough to induce. So I think it's heavily weighted towards block bets with strong but non nutted hands. But all that means, as you say, that he should be planning on folding to any decent river raise, in which case my shove is a sledgehammer vs nut situation!

This is a pretty nonstandard line, otr. We have a choice of betting to fold out all villain's bluffs and forcing him to decide whether to hero fold his Kx, or letting him bluff his missed draws and "incorrectly" valuebet worse, as in this case. Long term, for balance, we want to bet this river but once in a while it's ok to change it up. I'm ok with villain's line although normally when someone bets the obvious scare card on the turn, he either has the hand he's repping, or he's bluffing. So I'm not sure how much value there is vs worse, here.

So, with NL2/NL5/NL10 beaten, we're halfway there though I'm running out of time...
