Discipline Challenge

I'm surprised I managed to keep my cool in the cash games, after two days of never-ending shitstorm in tournaments. Being reminded, why I didn't like tournaments in the first place, it's demoralizing to bust out of 21 tournaments in a row with some kind of cooler or a bad beat.

• K♥:7♥: - one of the favorite spots against a nitty opponent.

Yesterday was experimenting with an aggression factor.
Should have done it long time ago, changes my perspective towards some HUD stats, and how to deal with specific opponents.

Here's my 525 hands session without a single passive move (check/folding is not a passive move) postflop:

23/22 VPIP/PFR, 9.8% 3bets

As you can see, I reached the insane 104 aggression factor. And I didn't even play like a maniac, just simple continuation bets, a lot of double barrels (semi-bluff, or light value) and not a single third barrel.
Was trying to have an initiative preflop, so I wouldn't have to check/call anytime. Although in my next session I decided that I can make some flat calls preflop, especially in position, since it shouldn't affect my aggression factor (I can always reraise in position for value/protection or for semi-bluff), or I can set-mine small pocket pairs OOP and just check/fold if I miss, or check/raise if I catch a set.

Anyway, I also proved myself, that it's not the optimal play, there are just too many good spots to play passive:
- with draws in situation like this (A♥:K♥: flush draw); so in my next session I had to just call in such situation (K♥:T♣: OESD) and my aggression factor dropped from 60 to 33 at that point (ended up second session in 77 factor).
- bluff catchers (especially against disciplined regulars);
- not to mention monster hands, when you can only call facing a reraise;
- defending blinds.

So if you see a regular with a very high aggression factor, don't start thinking he bluffs a lot. Probably just means, that he plays disciplined poker, with light-value bets and folds to any aggression.

Kept testing the playstyle without any passive moves.
So far results doesn't show the benefits of it, but to be fair, it felt like I was running quite bad yesterday.
On the plus side, it's really interesting testing out this strategy and I also feel like there's much more discipline in my play.

  Most of the loss was from losing QQ vs. AA and unsuccessful three-barrel bluff (and this interesting hand A♥:8♣:).
  Passive moves (1): just one 9♣:9♦:

  28/26 VPIP/PFR, 16.6% 3bets
  Lost QQ vs. AA again, but still managed to bank profit with a lot of small pots. Getting more confident about the strategy.
  Passive moves (2): this somehow counts as passive move A♣:Q♥: and made one flop call by accident..
• NL25 [530 hands] +5.0$
  28/27 VPIP/PFR, 18.1% 3bets (some of it are just click-backs to get initiative)
  Started a session with a few coolers and -70$, but still managed to climb to profit with some really nice light value bets.
  Passive moves (1): can't win QQ vs. AA, can't win AA vs. QQ A♥:A♦:
• NL25 [540 hands] -30.1$
  26/24 VPIP/PFR, 14.2% 3bets
  Lost two stacks with KK vs. AA and JJ vs. QTs all-ins preflop. Besides that - a good session again, and broke the record of aggression factor.
  Passive moves (0): was no situation for a passive move

It's easy to see from the graph, that EV adjusted shows the real situation. Also happy with the non-showdown line.

I feel like experiments with an aggression factor really improved my game. Feeling much more comfortable in NL50.

NL25:

• 15531 hands: -72.98$ (EV adjusted: +183.16$), winrate: -1.88 (VPIP: 28.0, PFR: 23.7, 3bet: 10.3)

Don't care about the loss, EV adjusted shows the real situation and I'm happy about it.

NL50:

• 20683 hands: +161.51$ (EV adjusted: -185.09$), winrate: +1.56 (VPIP: 26.7, PFR: 21.3, 3bet: 7.5)

Once again not really happy with my red line in NL50, but I guess that comes naturally, people in this limit are fighting for pots way more than in NL25.

TOURNAMENTS:

Seems like a decent profit, but most of it came only from the yesterday's good run. Need to stay focused.

The red line is actually a bit better than previous times, and EV adjusted is on a nice profit, so it's decent overall.

My assumptions:
the original 3better is a reg that 3bets light alot
the cold caller is a reg that is not strong enough to call 4bet but has a hand like AQ, TT, JJ, 99. And he will fold this to a 4bet.
Dont know if my assumptions are correct but if this is one of your fav spot for 4bet bluff then it happens often ?
