To be able to earn more T-a-F money you have to get your referred friends to take a free money offer or deposit and play. If you only had one friend, they would need to earn only 200 SPs for you to have your $10.
You can certainly put your referral link anywhere you like on social media. I'm sure that's how our big T-a-F earners do it.
There is an expiry if you don't log in to PokerStrategy for 6 months (I think), but in cases where people have done this and then returned, we have re-instated their T-a-F money.
