set on wet board

I really have no idea how I could have played this any better, so I'm looking for a little input. After hitting middle pair as the preflop aggressor, the SB donk bet into me and I called. I then hit my set on the turn and once again called his bet. The river was a very bad card for me as a lot of straight and backdoor flush draws were completed so i decided to throw this away instead of risk too many chips early on. Should I have raised his flop bet? Or raised after hitting my set on the turn? On a wet board like that, should I fold middle pair, or is that too weak of a play?

Difficult hand to fold the river I think. Only the backdoor flush draw comes in, because JT had already a straight on the flop and that’s the only straight combo possible.

So you was already the hole time beat against a set or 2 pair that turns in a FH or you dealing with Kx that you can beat or a missed straight draw.

Also his almost pot size bet on river looks like a bluff or a strong made hand. Without reads I would make a crying call.

I don’t think it has to much sense to raise on every street, because you will most likely isolate yourself against better and this way you keep his weak hands in his range.

Cheers,

its a bit hard for him to have flush on the river. i doubt he would donk flop with a backdoor flush hand and dont change his sizing on the turn, with the board paring my guess is that he would charge a bit more on the turn with a FD. on the str8 side remember u have 1T so his str8 combos drop to 12.
there's much more combos of 9x, Kx, Ax, total bluff in his calling range there. and even if he has the other Q(except for FH) u are spliting.

i would also call there and make a note on what type of hand is he donking

I'm just talking as a fish so do not take myself to serious

Yes, raise on any street doesn't make to much sense as we go to ending to play eventually vs his top part of his range ...

but, on the Turn, what's the top part of his range, FH (99, KK) Queens are belong to Hero, so, JT, (would he play like that? Villain is unknown for the sample) how many combos vs the rest of the combos in his range ....

I will r/f the Turn at least make his draws cards needed on the river more expensive without exclude FE

but, as said I'm a :f_wink:

if u raise turn u make odds to call a shove.

assuming you raise turn to something like 24BBs. pot will be 48BBs and you will have about 41BBs stack behind. if the villain 3bet-shoves for his remaining 53BBs you will have to call 37BBs in a 101BB pot, so you need about 37% equity against his range. if he's drawing you have it. if he has a made str8 u have some outs (3 9's 2T's 3K's and 1Q to win so about 18%, and 3J's to split so about 6% there), plus his 1 pair combos.

I would raise the turn to 16-18bb. This way you can still get value from Kx, flush, straight draws and fold to a 3bet. Also you can stop him betting the river and if a bad card falls you can check behind.
