A 3bet to 1400 wouldn't have allowed me to reopen the betting after SB's shove, but a 3bet to 1350 would have worked fine and otherwise I agree.

Spoiler

The Sunday show is going to feature me as a Chromestar already, though. And I think I'll be loading KOs only because I'm suddenly not good at mixing formats, despite the proper carpet colour coding.

Get Rich or Die Tryin' report

235 tournaments
-€160
€360
9 weeks

(+€480 worth (with rake excluded; €516 nominally) of unplayed Twister tokens :f_biggrin: )

Audit: :transpire:

Spoiler

Pokerstars: -€227 (/$248) in 72 tournaments, including +$15 in the Neymar Freeroll and +$5 from the Megabonus. Most of the loss comes from a bad Sunday in $22-109 PSKO MTTs.

The loss in 90-man PSKO SnGs has been merely €33, and that's because of bad luck at final tables (the overall chip EV difference is 36K not in my favour, in 39 games).

PT4 doesn't track bounties in PSKOs correctly and also incorrectly displays buy-ins after the data is overwritten by audit file import. I'm going to write a custom stat fixing the issue, but meanwhile, I rely on the audit file data to see balance fluctuations.

iPoker:

+€67 bonus/cashback

The big losses are MTT buy-ins, the big win in game 115 came from the 2nd place in a 200x Twister :f_frown:, more on that will follow after I have breakfast.

I believe the overall low point of the bankroll this week was around €95 :truestory:

That was on 3:35 PM ET on Sunday (down ~€380 at Stars and €45 on iPoker, but then, by the time I had the iPoker streak in games 122-130, my Stars balance had rebounced). I was pretty much alternating Stars and iPoker play, i.e. when I was at a peak number of tables at Stars, I obviously wasn't playing Twister, my iPoker action was only in MTTs at those moments. Conversely, when I had Twister swings, they weren't accompanied by simultaneous Stars MTT swings. So it was a rollercoaster, but I believe the Stars and iPoker downswings never overlapped enough to make me technically bankrupt for challenge purposes.

Now I have 50x€10 Twister tokens awarded for the last week of the Twister Club promo sitting in the account, so I'm yet pretty 'well off'.

Starting from this week (i.e. the next update), the results (buy-ins and winnings) in scheduled tournaments (except freerolls and tourneys with player points buy-in and an overlay), are excluded from the challenge statistics. (Btw, the rules of the Russian community counterpart of GRoDT require exactly this, for a good reason - big scores, which account for a significant part of the MTT ROI, would be an overkill as they normally exceed the challenge goal, so including them affects the probability of winning negatively.)

Sorry folks, I was busy with the HUSnG championship match vs a $200 HU hyper reg prosvk; now that it's over, I'm going to crunch the numbers of the BR challenge in a little while.

A good news is that I've fixed the Net Won stat in PT4 to correctly display winnings in PSKOs after the audit file is imported :f_love:

GRoDT report

174 tournaments
+€675
€1035
10 weeks

(+ €39 Twister token equity + some August Boost token equity)

Obviously, most of the profit came from playing the vast reserves of Twister tokens through :f_tongue:

Graph:

Spoiler

+ $5 Stars Megabonus
+ €71 iPoker cashback+bonus
+ €1 rounding error from the last time (that I made to make the last report rounder)
+ €75 won from the free Hulk spins that were awarded for playing poker, namely in Coral's Summer Challenge for playing one €10 Twister on Wed :f_biggrin:

But I don't count Twister tokens received as casino cashback - they are earned not by playing poker. Therefore the tourneys entered by those tokens are counted as normal €5 buy-in tourneys in reports.

Whether to count the Megabonus in is an open question, since it's given for just depositing, but I assume that one has to play poker to be able to withdraw the deposit amount later, so I happily add it.

1 of the tourneys is phantom, 'appeared' because of ISP's issues that cost me dozens of euros :f_cry:

Thanks, sir! :f_thumbsup: May you have massive :profit: every week too!

Alas I'm no longer going to have such vast reserves of Twister tokens; I have only around 60 cheap ones now :f_frown:

I don't include token equity into the bankroll because I'm superstitious (they need to be played through). So the actual 'bankroll increase' was far from 3x, I simply played the tokens through.

I hope I'm finished with the challenge this week, I'm only a few hundred away from it, and the fields have been ridiculous :f_thumbsup:

Please let me know if you'd like to see more puzzling hands from my match with prosvk than the one I've posted in its thread (it's duplicated below); I've been too lazy to analyse them properly :fouet:

Early in the match...

Full Tilt - $0.50|10/20 NL (2 max) - Holdem - 2 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

Hero (SB): 480
BB: 520

Hero posts SB 10, BB posts BB 20

Pre Flop: (pot: 30) Hero has T♦ 7♦

Hero raises to 40, BB calls 20

Flop: (80, 2 players) 8♣ T♠ J♥
BB checks, Hero bets 30, BB calls 30

Turn: (140, 2 players) 5♦
BB checks, Hero bets 70, BB raises to 450 and is all-in, fold

BB wins 280

First of all, it's more mandatory to use the usual halfpot sizing here than anywhere else; I sometimes confuse the NLHE and PLO classifications of board textures (having ground cash PLO for over a year); here, there are enough OESDs (9s) to get value from, as well as enough 9s in my range to make Jakub (prosvk) consider stacking off lighter, whereas the flop would be pretty heavy and lockdown by PLO standards (there would be many made straights).

Secondly, I think checking the turn and bluffcatching the river is a better option here as I hate being x/r'ed, and I was surely thinking about it, for so long that he might have picked a timing tell.

Whether to call the x/r is an Equilab puzzle; the problem is that most of his 9s have a decent equity, and some of them are discounted because he didn't 3bet pre, whereas my equity vs his Js+ is rather poor (maybe he takes this line with QT if he flats it pre, but I don't think he likes to extract very thin value here with worse Tx).

It looks like a marginal spot:

Spoiler

340/960=35.4% equity is needed to call; if he x/c's (slowplays) two-pair too (in addition to made straights; sets are impossible because he flatted pre), then it's a clear call, but I'm afraid he wouldn't cap his x/r range like this. If he 3bets such playable hands as QJ, QT, JT pre, instead of seeing the flop with high SPR, then the call becomes clear too.

personal i check on that flop or if I decide to bet for sure I check the turn because i don't consider to have 2 full streets of value. AT and KT for sure I bet the flop and turn, QT probably half of the combos.

Wow, I didn't think the decision depends so much on the kicker :f_eek:

I was surely considering checks on both streets, but would likely have to face one-two stabs then. I guess the 2PWK was good enough as a bluffcatcher.

In PLO, there's a separate betting purpose called 'preventing opponent's bluff', I'm not sure if it's a valid concern in NLHE at all, at least Balugawhale (in 'Easy Game') didn't think it's a separate purpose.

I'm perfectly aware that I tend to bet/fold too much equity :f_cry:

Oops, I've faced a bit too much variance today :f_biggrin:, even though my volume has been terribly low as always - after a mandatory weekly €150 bet (on baccarat this time, which I won; casinoments of course never count into the challenge), I played through only 18 out of the huge (60-ish) backlog of €1 tokens, then found it difficult to start a new session, ended up indulging myself with Chessexplained's Youtube videos for the whole night :f_ugly:, then decided to play a short session at local 10 AM to check whether the fish was still there (it was late Sunday evening already even in Canada). Well, in almost all my games I was facing the same reg, which already wasn't nice. But guess what happened then...

Spoiler

A €500 prize pool Twister fell on me while two €60 ones were in progress. As you might remember from the thread, two weeks ago, I was drawn a €2K one for the second time within the ~2K lifetime games and finished, though it wasn't as bad as the first time around because nowadays €1K+ Twister prize pools are split 80/10/10. A comrade of mine had got drawn a €10K Twister two Sundays ago and also 'lost' - the 100 BIs he won barely covered his preceding downswing.

€500 prize pools are still winner-take-all.

One of my opponents was that same omnipresent reg. But more interestingly, the other opponent was a very aggressive, longball style player whom I had met this morning in one tourney.

Basically, he openshoved ridiculously often, though he folded or checked quite often too. Nevertheless, the one time when he minraised and called my shove (in our first tourney), he showed QQ, which meant that his openshoving range was capped. Cool.

In the second tourney, the 50x, he had overbet-shoved pre twice out of 4 opportunities. One other time he limp/folded SB to a small raise, and the other time he overlimped in the SB... correct, exactly when I had JJ on the button and limped as a trap, and I took down the pot uncontested on the low paired flop (yeah, I should have tried checking the flop too 3-way, that's true).

Then I found myself in the BB with K9o, facing his 23.5 bb BTN openshove, and I thought I had at least a bit more than the needed 47.4% vs his capped range, something like this:

Perhaps I neglected 'future game simulation' - the ability to pick a better spot, which would likely turn up. However, the recreational opponent was on my left, which meant that most of his chips (on average) would have gone to the other reg (having position on him) otherwise.

Needless to say, he showed A9o, which might have been near the top of his range, and won. I ended up shipping only one of those €60 Twisters.

Lol.

The financial report is coming after Stars' and iPoker's daily all-in shootouts, i.e. at ~9 PM CET (unless I get up later :f_biggrin: ). I guess I'm at €1200-1300-ish, have been so messed up mentally last week, especially after the first English translation of the German 'Kate & Tony' strategy article series came out, that I didn't find the force to play as much as I wanted.

Heh, I'm done for tonight after this (in a 6x, out of all places).

iPoker - €9.30+€0.70 | NL (3 max) - Holdem - 3 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BB: 405
Hero (BTN): 480
SB: 615

3 players post ante of 5, SB posts SB 15, BB posts BB 30

Pre Flop: (pot: 60) Hero has J♠ K♠

Hero calls 30, fold, BB checks

Flop: (90, 2 players) 6♠ 3♠ A♠
BB checks, Hero checks

Turn: (90, 2 players) 5♦
BB bets 63, Hero calls 63

River: (216, 2 players) 4♠
BB times out and his hand is auto-checked as per iPoker rules,
Hero waits until BB is back, for max value, and bets 108,
BB raises to 307 and is all-in, Hero calls 199

BB shows 2♠ 5♠ (Straight Flush, Six High)
(Pre 33%, Flop 4%, Turn 2%)
Hero mucks J♠ K♠ (Flush, Ace High)
(Pre 67%, Flop 96%, Turn 98%)
BB wins 830

So, had I had air there, I would have won the hand by minbetting when BB was sitting out. Having the third nuts (the first two being improbable) has played a sick joke with me. So intense, in a true iPoker style, wow.

Believe it or not, already on the flop, I had a hunch that a straight flush was coming :f_biggrin:

It's not so profitable to represent a rivered flush when there are boats out there and your boat range is capped because of not 3betting pre :f_cool:

just to say that I hope you are ok there tony - don't worry too much about the 'trainwreck' incident mate - if you haven't made an arse of yourself on a public forum, you've never lived imho! - I've done it myself on numerous occasions and nobody really cares that much tbh (you may get talked about/laughed at, for a few days, but then it's mostly forgotten and peeps move on to sommat else) - you'll be lookin back yourself, and pissin yourself laughin at it soon, I bet

(pretty sick beat there btw - ouch!!!)

I don't worry as much as about exposing my own leaks as about showing an exaggerating snapshot of iPoker's field publicly: when recording the video submitted for that review, I ran into someone who got permanently disconnected at 3 tables at once for the entire tourneys, plus the weakest regfish of the stake at two of the tables, plus random recreationals; surely, there's plenty of better regs in the field too, and disconnections happen less often.

On a side note, this is going to eat my time in the two coming weeks :f_love:

Follow it here. The 2+2 chess mod BobJoeJim has calculated the odds of each player's win in his blog 'Chess by the Numbers' :f_love: (As you might know, Veselin Topalov and Vishy Anand have been on fire lately - what a brilliant shape for their ages of 40 and 45 respectively!)

I'm not rooting for anyone in particular, just looking forward to good games and Chessexplained's dedicated Twitch streams (watch announcements and records on his Youtube channel).

OK, we've already had Carlsen's double-edged (though surprisingly unspewy) knight sacrifice and Aronian's correct and crushing rook sac, what's happening is so good for chess :f_drink:

Meanwhile, I'm trying to spin up the balance for a play money challenge I've just had an idea to run after this one, but it's really tough (maybe I'm spewing too much) and maybe I'll have to spend $1.99 on the starting 'bankroll' of 350K chips :f_cry:

Edit: no, I won't have to spend money because Full Tilt has jackpot SnGs with the buy-in of as few as 100 play chips :f_drink:

Heh, I've had a fun time grinding a bit of play money HUPLO Zoom nevertheless, something I'd never enterprise for real money (I'm a mere 6-max specialist, HU is too complex and overraked).

A technical notice regarding CPT qualifiers

As the satellite tickets given by promotions are non-refundable, I'll have to play them through; in the rare event of me winning a Punta Cana package (including the €800 buy-in), it will count as +€300 added to the bankroll for the purposes of the challenge, as I'm sure I'll be able to sell at least that much worth of live action.

In other news, I've started trialling tranquiliser pills  (specific to Russia, that are believed not to harm focus, which is rare for this group of medicines) combined with hepatoprotector pills mitigating the liver damage from the former :gl:

Side Pot#1 [€432.96]: (Pre 27%, Flop 14%, Turn 73%)

Hero wins €914.22

Fwiw, I think this hand is normally openfolded (or, at a loose-passive table, openlimped for set value) pre UTG because it's check/folded 4-way on the flop if it flops merely an overpair (which it usually does). So I spewed 12 bb off to luckbox 429 bb net. That's poker :f_ugly:

Your eyes aren't lying - yes, I was too tired of this thread so I decided to finish it off by Tankroll Management in a mammoth 6-hour Sunday session, loading a whole-lobby mix of good old PLO€20-100 tables with the base line of ~€500, below which I'd revert to Twister.

This was the first time when I got a cash game stack bigger than $1K :f_drink:, as I'm not a big fan of sitting at the same table for long (in particular, I usually don't play Zoom, where some regs like to accumulate 1000+ bb stacks instead of resetting them to 100 bb routinely).

The impromptu gamble was triggered by real-life frustration. I also had an urge for playing the €75 Big Sunday - of course, with 4 entries and not included into the challenge stats - but decided against it 17 minutes into the late reg period because the shape was too terrible for playing barely within the bounds of the liferoll management.

A couple of graphs for the entire 3 months:

Midstakes MTTs (which comfortably fit to my liferoll, but which I obviously should have excluded from the challenge stats but can't do it retroactively, otherwise the challenge would have been won in week 10)

Chip EV graph in Twister (the vast majority being €10s)

(The filter is set to exclude Boost Twister all-in shootouts that are imported as lottery SnGs too, apparently because the detection rule just looks for the word 'Twister' in the tourney title.)

46408 / 927 ~ 50 chips per tourney.

That's a bit better than in the 'before' chip graph posted at the beginning of the thread, maybe just due to a heater, maybe because I've been picking offpeak hours to play.

Somehow the non-showdown line has become positive in the end :sfishy: I'm frustrated by my performance because it has taken me the whole 3 summer months to earn ~€2K excluding the midstakes MTT losses (btw, I've played zero non-satellite non-freeroll scheduled tourneys anyway since I announced that I'd be excluding them), which is what regs of my stakes do in 2-3 weeks even without making use of promotional missteps of iPoker skins.

I need to stop listening to perfectionist coaches and just start grinding more even when I feel out of shape or underskilled because my B-game, as horrible as it is, is likely still profitable in the current fields.
