2 Days before leaving to Turkey!

I am going to take a lot of videos about the hockey stuff and others, so if someone has any ideas or requests about what to do I am all open. Most of the stuff is in finnish, as I am going to make the reports to our finnish community. But if there is some interest in here, I will make some stuff in english too. :)

Trip has begun! I am going to post some stuff about the day when I get to my hotel at evening. I just deposited 60 euros to my betting account, hopefully the games are available for betting. Interesting to see if I can make any profit, my history as sports bettor is abysmal. I have this amazing skill to miss almost anything I bet. Sometimes I even bet against my favorite team just to make sure they win, and it has been very succesfull tactic.

Woah, quite a trip. Everything went pretty smoothly, but there were some funny things along the way.

The flight was very pleasant. There were touch screens on every seat and you could watch movies, listen music or play games during the flight. As the flight was only for 3 hours, that was somewhat unexpected. I watched Hobbit, which had just a perfect duration. The meal was nice too, we could choose from two different courses.

When we got to Istanbul, I had some stressing moments at the passport control. For everyone else, it tooks just few seconds as they looked the passport with the computer. For me, it took several minutes. The officer looked worried and curious, and I begun to wonder what is wrong. Then after some stressing minutes, he gave me my passport back and it was all good. Of course I didn't have anything to worry, but still it's stressing to think "why is he looking so worried? Might there be something wrong?" while standing there in front of him and the camera.

After that we headed to subway. And the ticket was the funniest I have ever seen. After I put money in to ticket automat, it gave me a plastic token. It looked like kid's play coin, fat and red. That token opened a gate to subway. I gotta take a pic of that token when we get back, or even take on home with me as a souvenir.

Izmit isn't exactly a tourist town. Not much english going on in here. All the signs, menus and things are just in turkish. Not many people speak english in here. So pretty much what I expected. My friend is wearing New Zealand's ice hockey jersey, and that surely gets people's attention. As it's not enough that we are typical nordic guys, one has an ice hockey jersey. Ice hockey isn't a familiar sport in here, the owner in one restaurant asked us why we are here. When I told him we are watching ice hockey, his expression revealed that he had no idea what we are talking about. Although he said "Ah, ok. Very nice." to us, but his face told different story. :)

I placed some bets for today's games:

Bulgaria - New Zealand 2 (2.36)
China - Israel 2 (14.00)
Turkey - Mexico 1 (14.00)

In the last 2 games both get over 7.5 goals (3.18)

Let's see if I can make all of those miss.

I actually placed some more bets, and got 7 out of 9 right. So my betting project got a whooping start with little over 50% bankroll boost at day 1.

It has been pretty exhausting day, we left the hotel at 11am and got back at 11pm. I would have a lot of nice stories but I am really too tired to write any of them. Maybe tomorrow, or at tuesday.

Another exhausting day. Once again we left at 11am and got back at 11pm. 3 games per day, 3 game days left.

Today we met a bunch of Latvian guys, who were cheering for Mexico. They had jerseys and all, first I thought they were from Mexico and went to talk them about some of the team's players. I have no idea why they are rooting for Mexico, but now there are five of them, all from Latvia. And they have been traveling all around the world in these divisional championships, cheering for Mexico. Funny people there in Latvia. :)

So much going on in here. And I am making a good coverage to our Finnish community and to one Finnish ice hockey website. So I am too tired to write the same stuff for the third time, sorry guys.

In short, we have had:

- Great hockey games
- Latvian guys rooting for Mexico
- Local heavy metal bar and 2 drunken nights
- Player interviews
- Met the parents of one of Israel's players
- Learned few words in Turkye
- Made 150% profit with my bets so far

I can link those player interviews (they are in english) if someone likes them. There are Tal Avneri (Israel), Brian Arroyo (Mexico) and Cristofer Kelo (Mexico) so far. Trying to get hold of Turkey goalie Kahraman at Saturday.

Trip to Turkey was awesome! So many memorable moments that I can't even list them all. In numbers, we watched 15 ice hockey matches, and 15 of those were great. I tripled my betting bankroll, and even got the money out without any problems. Here is the link to the thread with all the interviews (it's in finnish but the interviews are in english):

What comes to poker, I just withdraw my money from Stars and I am going to bang my head to ipoker wall. Awesome promotions in May, so I can't miss them.

I haven't lost any weight during this year. So now it's time to continue that. My goal is to fight in -74kg weight class at the end of the year. I weight now about 90kg so there is over 10kg to lose.

Well those promotions at Ipoker weren't as great as I thought. William Hill has changed their VIP-system. Even with $1,5K monthly rake it's hard to get over 40% rakeback. And last year that gave a lot more. As I can't wait for anything, I moved my bankroll from Stars to Ipoker.

After I played few hands I begun to calculate the real paid rake. As Ipoker has normal 5% rake and full rake at split pots, the difference is minimal when compared to Platinum level at Stars. The real problem is the lack of traffic. Today I played on all 9 PLO20 tables at Ipoker. In almost all of those there were the same 3 finnish regs. They are sort of "bad", but still my edge isn't great against them (if I even have any).

So I deposited some money to Stars, and found out that my SCOOP reload bonus is still alive. Strange. Anyway, here is quite a funny hand:

Poker Stars, $0.10/$0.25 Pot Limit Omaha Cash, 6 Players

Hero (SB): $25 (100 bb)
BB: $24.30 (97.2 bb)
UTG: $10 (40 bb)
MP: $82.72 (330.9 bb)
CO: $25 (100 bb)
BTN: $47.73 (190.9 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with T 7 J 8
UTG raises to $0.50, MP calls $0.50, CO folds, BTN raises to $1.50, Hero calls $1.40, BB calls $1.25, UTG calls $1, MP raises to $9, BTN calls $7.50, Hero calls $7.50, BB raises to $24.30 and is all-in, UTG calls $8.50 and is all-in, MP raises to $82.72 and is all-in, BTN calls $38.73 and is all-in, Hero calls $16 and is all-in

Flop: ($154.76) 3 7 5 (5 players, 5 are all-in)
Turn: ($154.76) 4 (5 players, 5 are all-in)
River: ($154.76) Q (5 players, 5 are all-in)

Results:

Spoiler

$154.76 pot ($2.00 rake)
Final Board: 3 7 5 4 Q
Hero showed T 7 J 8 and won $107.30 ($82.30 net)
BB showed 8 T J 9 and lost (-$24.30 net)
UTG showed 5 5 8 4 and lost (-$10 net)
MP showed K 2 A K and won $45.46 (-$2.27 net)
BTN showed T 6 A A and lost (-$47.73 net)

I got a grandfathered deal on Will Hill, but even with 50%, i'm finding it hard to find reasons to want to play on ipoker.

I agree, I think stars is the way to go right now.

I remember seeing you on those PLO20 tables, and it certainly wasn't great for my edge then (aka I sucked) :f_biggrin:

Glad to say ive improved a bit. I'm playing PLO10 atm. GL and run good :)

nice rungood with the 78TJ :). Did you run that matchup through PPT, i'm curious what your EQ was...

22% preflop. If BB wouldn't have blocked my hand I would have had even more. PLO is a funny game, in 5way allins nearly everyone has the odds. Even that AKK2 guy has 24% preflop, and aces have only 19%. I really don't understand why, as he has one flush draw and aces have one too.

3 months of silence is enough.

I took a little break from the weight-loss at the start of the year. That break was about 7 months long. Now I am back in business, and continuing my journey to thinhood. My goal is to compete at under 74kg weight class in taekwondo. So those who have read the starting post see that it would be 30kg loss. Pretty signifant.

I have trained taekwondo (of course) and worked out in the gym. Today I was in Body Combat group-fitness class. Was quite fun actually. :)

WOAH! I found this thread after 2 years of silence. I had forgot this completely. Plan for competing in taekwondo failed for two reasons:

- Weight didn't drop, in 2 years it has gone up back to three digits.
- I started to play american football and busted my knee. For last 2 years it has not stopped me from playing football, but it stops me from practicing taekwondo in high level.

Now it's time to get back to shape. Goal is to rehab my knee and lose some excess fat in the process. I won't be competing in taekwondo, but I will be playing my ass off in football!

In the meantime I work, study and run a family. And when I have time, I give poker coaching. And if after all that I have time, I play some poker. Which leads to my next promotion/project:

20K hands in PLO2 Zoom part II, win a coaching!

I did this back in 2012 ( https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?threadid=215658) and now it's time to do it again!
