As of yesterday, I don't think Badges work in the HUD anymore (on pokerstars and Full Tilt - though I haven't tried it yet)

True. If you play on FTP or Stars, the badges will no longer work. This is intentional, stars and FTP decided not to allow most notecaddy features anymore.

Hi,
2 spots, I'm not sure if it's a valuebet.

#1:
BTN: $17.90
SB: $17.75
BB: $20.78
UTG: $51.03
Hero (MP): $21.83
CO: $34.05

SB posts SB $0.08, BB posts BB $0.16

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.24) Hero has A♣ Q♣

fold, Hero raises to $0.48, CO calls $0.48, fold, SB calls $0.40, fold

Flop: ($1.60, 3 players) 9♠ A♠ 7♥
SB checks, Hero bets $0.84, CO calls $0.84, fold

Turn: ($3.28, 2 players) T♦
Hero bets $2.06, CO calls $2.06

River: ($7.40, 2 players) 9♣
Hero bets $3.88, CO raises to $10.10, Hero calls $6.22

Vs. Reg ~230 Hands: 20/15/7.1; (Cold call 1/16 on the CO), WtSD/W$SD 35/14
Vbet is close imo, COvsMP Ranges are really tight, so he has to bluffcatch wide to make a Vbet +EV. What do you think?
Vs. Raise: I have no idea what he's value raising there. Don't think he's raising there possible AK combos, so his perceived value range is really small (maybe 2x98s, sometimes but rarely a boat, that's it).

#2:
BTN: $16.35
Hero (SB): $19.56
BB: $19.19
UTG: $1.68
MP: $15.00
CO: $16.00

Hero posts SB $0.08, BB posts BB $0.16

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.24) Hero has 7♦ 7♠

fold, MP calls $0.16, fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.80, fold, MP calls $0.64

Flop: ($1.76, 2 players) Q♣ T♦ 7♣
Hero bets $1.34, MP calls $1.34

Turn: ($4.44, 2 players) 9♥
Hero bets $3.39, MP calls $3.39

River: ($11.22, 2 players) 6♦
Hero bets $10.72, MP calls $9.47 and is all-in

No reads on Villain, but his preflop line let assume a recreational player.
Vs. a reg imo turn is already close to be a value bet.

hi w34z3l,

I Saw some theoretical Videos which ended with a Little Zoom Session.
So my question -> is this Course for zoom or normal Tables?

Greetings from Germany :)

Awkward spot from today, especially more than 100 BB deep. But is there any chance that we do not go allin on the turn? I see no way out:

This hand here seems very close to me on the river. I do not see too much value in a bet, however I think we might have a decent bluff catcher against busted draws with our TPGK. What do you guys think?

I have been absolutely crushed this week and try to review some critical hands (the ones that were not obvious setups or bad beats). I found that I had to fold a ton of hands in mid-sized pots.

However, is there any other option? Would be happy about some advice on these:

Somehow knew he had Aces, but what can we really do?

In the first hand, I'm not a fan of the slow playing of KK (v AA), especially as you are OOP post flop. I feel a lot more money should have gone in pre flop and on the flop - not that that would help you at all in this situation. I know that you can see a reg'ish player 3 betting before you, but his 3bet stats are 3.7% (over a small sample) - which I would suspect is his minimum 3bet range - and that gives him something like 99+, AQs+ and AKo - your KK is in pretty good shape against that range. You also don't want to give the open raiser good odds (about 7-2) to come along for the ride speculatively and making it a cheap 3 way pot. If both players want to play against your KK, then you should make them pay to play, IMO. Your KK is strong now, so you want to get money in while you are strong - the likelihood is that your KK will get weaker rather than stronger as the hand progresses - so you want to bet for value whilst you're confident you're likely ahead. You played passively throughout the hand.

Just had a quick glance through the other hands and there does seem to be a trend to your play of passivity pre flop with premium hands, often OOP - maybe a little more aggression is needed when you have the goods (especially at NL5 when you're more likely to get paid off)?

Hi 8runo, thanks for your reply, I agree, reason was mainly I was pretty sure he had Aces, but we cannot really fold. A solution could be to just bring it in preflop every time with kings and only call when deep.

Right, the rest of the hands seem quite passive, I think I was influenced by the many setups I ran into before these hands and missing tons of boards. After weeks of doing well and running good it really ruined all my NL5 winnings on stars, but maybe this is a chance to improve my game again. I should think about raising bigger in some spots and maybe even keeping barreling even if I miss something like AK in a 3bet pot for more streets since I find that most people will call the flop and if we miss, they will start to bet like crazy if we just check, which is awkward. I might be playing too honestly over all.

Both opponents in the following hand are "unknown" in regards to Stats (BU plays 38/0 on 14 hands, SB plays 23/8 on 13 hands). As we can see BU seems to be fishy after the first couple of hands, but he plays 4 tables which makes me give him some credit. SB plays only one table, so he could also be a fish.
To get two calls on the flop did suprise me a little bit.
Same thing on the turn. I probably should bet bigger here for value against Jx.

On the river I am behind some slowplayed monsters (77 and JJ) and just overtook slowplayed flopped nut-straights.
I'm quite sure to have a value raise here. SB seems to definitely have some strong hand and I think his most probable holding is a straight. The question is, if I could increase my value by shoving here. I decided to use a smaller raise-size, so that it is easier for straights to call. If somebody 3bets, it is really ugly but I think we have to fold then.

Hey guys, will be posting updated numbers at some point before next academy.

Anyway, next live coaching is tomorrow and the topic will be 4betting preflop.

Same as usual! Please post a few hands for analysis. 5 points for each 4bet preflop situation up to a maximum of 3 hands. (You can post more but won't get points). Btw, they don't need to be hands where you actually 4bet necessarily, maybe you folded but wondered if 4betting is good.

(As far as I can see it, the topic of this weeks coaching is "4-betting preflop". Right?

@FollowTheSmartMoney: Probably thats why nobody else posted hands. Actually "value-betting river" was the topic of last week and I was wondering, if that's the topic again. )

To your Hands...
77-Hand: I guess I would lead the flop multiway for protection since there are so many overcards to your Pair. On the turn I would probably just call the small 4bet and evaluate river. I just don't think villain has many overpairs or sets in his range. Most of them would have bet on the flop and even if he has an overpair or set, he wouldn't play the turn like that very often, I guess. The min4bet especially looks nut-ish to me.

KQo-Hand: I prefer betting bigger on the flop since we are 4-handed and the board is very wet. Also on the turn I prefer to bet a little bigger, just a little bit over half pot for protection. On the river I think X/F is the best option, because I don't think villain bluffs into 2 opponents and his value-betting-range crushes us, I think.

KK-Hand: I don't think coldcalling a 3bet OOP is a good choice here, although I can very well understand the reasoning. Actually you are already on tilt in this hand and you should be aware of that (I had that read on you because you basically said "I have been absolutely crushed [...] I'm on tilt. I'm on tilt. I'm on tilt. Accumulated tilt. [...] I knew he had aces, but I'm on tilt so I will just pay him off" Actually you never "know" he has Aces. After all the Postflop action I also think Aces or a flush are very likely holdings (although flushes would just shove the river and often take a freecard). I don't think he has any bluffs on that river with that betsize (over-simplisticly said) and I don't think anything worse than KK is valuebetting here.
To learn about your mental game, you could start writing a diary or as Jared Tendler calls it a "mental game journal" and find out the triggers which cause you to tilt. I guess that finding and writing down the triggers is the first step to avoiding tilt in future sessions. For example my Poker diary is a excel sheet which includes information like the following: session starting- and end time; duration; reason why I did end my session at this specific time; Goals for the session devided into mental game and poker-strategy-goals; emotional state before the session; "how did I prepare?"; Special notes about the session (like have there been many fish, did I get put in difficult decissions, and so on); Mental game notes (finding triggers which cause me to tilt); "am I content with my mental game?"; strategy notes; "am I content with my game in general?"; Session winnings. And then there are some colums where I rate on a scale from 1-10 the following: Feeling before the session; difficulty of the session; Amount of fish; Tilt-scale; Handreading-Quality (Since that is what I want to improve right now); How content am I with my game?.

... sorry, I don't have any more time to go through the rest of your hands...

edit: haha, just in time w34z3l :-)

Well, i just want to quote the initial post of W34z3l:

"It's also asked that you help out other academy members where possible - this project will be a huge success only if everyone is willing to help each other.

Things I can help with -

Hand evaluations [...]"

So I guess it is not totally wrong to post some hands in between until a new theme is announced with the suggestion to post hands to this for the coaching (you did the same btw, and why not ? :). If this is not wanted, I am sorry.

But anyway, thanks for your helpful notes. It is true that I was probably on tilt during these sessions, although I had managed to reduce it during past weeks. I agree on the spots. Generally with Kings I could just go allin preflop, it does not really matter. The KQo hand was just a call because KQo was a good bluff catcher and the pot was pretty big, but it is true, I was also not convinced there and if we lose here in 99 % of the time, why call?

Excellent idea to have a journal for that, I use something like this for trading and it is pretty helpful indeed, so thanks for posting! And I will only look for 4 bet spots until tomorrow, I promise :f_biggrin::f_drink:

Hand2: Same positions but weaker hand. For me it is either fold or 4bet here. MP seems to be reg-ish and CO is unknown. Actually I'm not sure if I should 4bet or fold here. I definitely cannot broke preflop in this spot, so my line is 4bet/fold. Anyway I think it is slightly +ev.
