Deep in a tourney. 22 remaining 18 paid.

Hero has AQo 28bb in BB.

Villain 30bb in HJ min raises.

Folds to hero who 3bets to 7bb.

Villain shoves.

Hero calls.

Villain has 99. And wins the hand.

Should I be folding to such a big shove when so near the bubble?

With still 28 BB there was no need to risk your tournement.
And there were only 4 players left to the bubble.

Hello couchbox

Welcome on the PokerStrategy forum :welcome:

I have moved you’re hand to the tournament hand discussion board, because it’s fits better there.

I recommend reading the thread https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?postid=1432571#post1432571. There you can find all useful information how to post a hand the appropriate way.

So deep in the tournament I would most likely stacking off with AQo without any information about the player. I’m not playing for a min-cash and in a MTT we are dealing with a top heavy paid out structure most of the time. Also we don’t know how deep the rest of the players are playing. That’s useful information as well. If everyone is playing so deep I’m more willing to gamble than if you are with the HJ the biggest 2 stacks in the tournament.

Cheers,
