AI is changing every day / week or after a rare program updates ?

Hi,

I have a question on a specific hand scenario where I am troubled by the evaluation from Pokersnowie.

The scenario in question is posted below. They are both the exact same scenario but I have changed the final raise size by one half of a big blind, after which Pokersnowie changes its evaluation by a whole four big blinds.

The last time I came here with an issue with how Pokersnowie handled an evaluation I was told that the evaluation is very robust, and yet in a simple preflop scenario such as this which is as common as no limit itself, the software can't give an evaluation.

Is there some explanation as to what is going on here?

the AI is rarely updated, usually once or twice per year. When there is an AI update we always inform all our customers and release the information to our website and the media.

This jump in EV happens because the AI thinks the situation is exactly borderline. At some point, by changing the raise amount very slightly, the evaluation will switch from call to fold.

The way PokerSnowie is designed is such that two different AIs are used for providing the EV and for providing the right play. In this case there is definitely a problem in the EV display which should obviously change gradually and not jump like this.

in February 2014 we completed the PokerSnowie challenge and published the results of people who played against PokerSnowie a total of 3.3 mio hands. Here it's the article to the blog:

Among other interesting information, it seems that there is a clear correlation between the error rate and the winrate: the lower the error rate, the less PokerSnowie wins against the opponent. Though, it's difficult to say what are the implications of this in the online environment.

As you may have noticed, the error rate is not everything; in fact from a GTO perspective, the balance is at least equally important.

60K hands is really not that many...

first, congratulations on mimicing PokerSnowie so well, or perhaps playing so well that Snowie agrees with your 'good play' !!

second, over several hundred thousand hands, you may find you actual winnings substantial? Or not. If you can handle a bankroll swing at higher limits, perhaps test out your 'balanced game' at higher limits? I would think that one issue Snowie has is getting owned by the player pool's collective bad play. So when bad players over value hands, Snowie may fold too often (especially in multi way spots), or when bad players call too often, perhaps Snowie is attacking vs an opponents supposed balanced range it might wind up owning itself too often.

I don't know Snowie , but I think it will have a greater winrate vs better players (rather than your exploitive strategy), since vs terrible players , the Hero can exploit the mistakes better? but just a guess.

I think this may have already been asked in a slightly different form, but could you set up PokerSnowie to review HUSNGs? Since technically the mathematics behind HU cash and HUSNGs are the same bar the adjustment for rake, could you do this in the future for Heads Up players?

When you open a new scenario, what actually goes towards using up your monthly scenarios? For example a single change of one card is one extra scenario I think, or a change in the bet size. Specifically, if one scenario takes up 5 scenario 'points' and you copy the scenario for the analysis of a new branch somewhere along in the hand, does that copy the 5 points and so you have effectively used double the scenario points for the same hand?

I just don't think I've seen all of this clarified anywhere. Thanks.

so if i wanna skip through my "errors" of that certain challenge, i cant. cause the "next" button is cut off by right side of the program's window. any idea how to solve this anyone?

you are right, SNGs, single table where the winner takes all, would work fine. It is in our to-do list to allow the import of such hands.

on the purchase page ( https://www.pokersnowie.com/buy.html) we explain the following:

"Each time a scenario is set up with all the information needed to evaluate it, an evaluation is automatically triggered. Therefore, the configuration of a scenario may initiate multiple evaluation requests to the server. The limits stated for each subscription plan refer to the number of individual evaluations."

Therefore, if you open a scenario, and you change cards in order to trigger new evaluations, theoretically a single scenario might eat up a high number of evaluations.

Hi,

in order to be able to use PokerSnowie, you need to have a minimum screen resolution of 1280x768, if you use the standard DPI setting of Windows. Changing the DPI might cause the resolution requirements to be bigger.

I have another question. This time it's about the live challenges you can play against snowie.

First, does every time you click on live advice count as one of your scenarios?

Second, will there ever be an option to customise these live challenges in any way, for example alter the bet sizing your opponents use. This would be useful if you wanted to practice against players in a scenario where they open to 3x.

currently the live advice in the challenges does not count as a scenario.

About the ideas you mentioned, I have added them to our list of features that we periodically evaluate in order to improve our software, but at the current time we don't have any plan about it.
