1/2 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (4 handed)
Hand recorder used for this poker hand: PokerStrategy Elephant 0.67 by www.pokerstrategy.com.

Preflop: Hero is SB with A♠, T♥
CO folds, BU calls, Hero raises, BB folds, BU calls.

Flop: (5.00 SB) 5♥, 4♠, 8♣ (2 players)
Hero bets, BU calls.

Turn: (3.50 BB) K♦ (2 players)
Hero bets, BU calls.

River: (5.50 BB) 8♥ (2 players)
Hero ???

Opponent is unknown. I c-bet flop, I 2nd barrel scare card, and river looks like a blank. Which is my line?

check/call, even though I hate it because it turns your hand face up :P


I don't know if a busted gutshot is enough to check/call here. I tend to check/fold as the board was pretty dry.

Couldn't he be calling down worse A-high? (well, probably don't betting it on the river, but vs the average guys I play, you never know) :P

As you said he should check it behind most of the time. So if you think that he has A-high often enough then better bet/fold. (I like to get a free showdown here more as he won't have it often enough. ^^)
He also limped preflop so this lowers the chance too.
