oh and I have also quit smoking but I do that very often ; although with the marathons coming up I probably will need to keep off the smoke for a while :)

I wont drink any alcohol; go as far as cutting most fizzy drinks and improve my diet as well. There are probably other things that come with the existing goals that I have forgotten and I will add as well.

Thanks for the nice words Inv1ctus83

Haha, I hear ya. I've quit smoking many times over the years as well! Once I had >1 year without cigarettes but I was younger and stupid and smoked while partying, then got hooked again... I've quit a few times in the past few years as well, mainly switched over to e-cig for about a year but now I'm determined to stay off that crap. Am 100% nicotine free for >4 months now I believe :)

I decided to go cold turkey. I never trusted the e-cig thing. I was on roughly 20 a day up to last week. Fortunately the craving are reducing a lot every day and surprisingly I am not eating a stupid amount either.

I have run 856 miles last year (1378km). I will try to top that this year.
30 miles so far.

I have also got up at 5:30 this morning without complaining :) and completed my cash games missions yesterday. the only thing I am falling behind is tournament volume.

I did not have a chance to read my book (that's not too much of an issue, I will have plenty of time to finish it I think)

I did 3 hands review but forgot to jot them down :) .
I took the train to work this morning so I had time to read on the way there and back :f_thumbsup:
I am enjoying the book. it just hands played in tournaments and explaining different interesting spots. there are about 200 hands iirc.
Hopefully it will improve my game :)
I woke up at 5:30 and went to the gym, did 30 minutes rowing and then a leg workout on different machine. I have a 4 miles run tomorrow and a 10 miles run on Saturday.

I managed to play 4 tournaments yesterday but was tired and was probably not the best move, and I lost all the money that I had made on zoom in the tournament buyin and did not make much :P

Tonight I completed my missions on Zoom and I think I am on $12.5 in bonuses since the beginning of them. I am still hoping for a big one.

I had a few pleasant hands tonight:

I feel very tired so will have an early night.

Would have called that hand is well.

It is too bad to see losses during the last weeks. Where do you think it is coming from mostly?

mostly down to volume and running pretty bad in tournaments . So I am not worried at all, I just need to keep going at it.

the non smoking - non drinking is going well although I have had to resist a few invitations to social drinks after work (and a t lunch ). But that's all good.

today is the first day where I have had to shorten my training because of knee pain and I ran about 2 miles (was going for a 5 miles run) and the pain was bearable - I could have finished - but I did not want to run the risk to injure myself further so I went back to the gym and massaged the IT band, my back and the calf muscle before stretching and a long sauna.

Tomorrow I will do some more stretching and a leg workout. #legday before a 4 mile run on Friday and 10 miles on Saturday. Hopefully the pain in the knees will go :)

On the Poker Cash Quests missions on Pokerstars, I am still on track to completing all of them . I have so far gained an extra $17.50 (a mix of $1 and $2.5).

I have been pretty busy at work and at home and did not get much time to read and / or checking hand reviews.

Hopefully this weekend won't be as busy as last one and I will have some time to put in some tournaments

On a side note I have been watching Dexter (mostly while grinding) and I am really enjoying it.

Hi thazar,
Happy new year. Great goals for 2016 and I look forward to reading future posts.

complete the daily mission for the cash game quests on Pokerstars to get each daily bonus. (hoping to bink the 1 / 100000 chance of hitting $100K instant bonus :) , because why not!

Must admit I too have been grinding the promo more than concentrating on my other goals. Really like the cash promo at the moment and made around $15 so far.

Hope your knee gets better soon.

My regards

Matt

Nice flop Thazar!

Why donk bet there though? On a 3 flush board where you have 2 more spades, he's unlikely to have a flush to get value from, it'd be difficult for a straight too.. Might be worth checking back, and hoping he either throws a Cb out or checks back and catches up on the turn.

At worst case scenario, your donk bet on a 3flush mid-range board (which is much better for your SB flat range than his MP open range) looks like an AsX at very worst!

Would you call your bet with AdJh?

I think it is more the psychological thinking of Thazar. If Thazar would have raised this to me, I would have raised the donk with a wide range of hands. Why? I would perceive him as a learning kind of player. This highly suggests he tries to balance his range (make it polarized). Donk bets are easily exploited by raising very lightly.

However, I do agree that donk betting gives not many more advantages. According to Seidman (Easy Game, 2011 2nd edition), one can struggle with the question: 'Should we really try to balance two different ranges or one?'. If you like to read more on donk betting, this is under 'Chapter Forty-Five: The Theory of Donking (2009)'.

well that is basically my point , that is the last thing you expect from the nuts; most players play the nuts passively since there is not much to worry about getting outdrawn. By donking I am repping a hand that is good but I worry about, that I want to protect. By betting I am of course hoping for a player to realise that and raise me . Now in most case at NL10 this is leveling myself and I wont get any action. I might get some action (1 street possibly) by checking /calling flop and possibly turn.

The problem on a monochrome board is that most players shut down anyway and unless they hit a piece of the board you won't get any action. So, OOP, you hope they hit something and you donk ;)

Hey Thazar, sent you friend request, if you feel like talking hands we can share skype. I've been playing MTTs for a while now and am looking for some people who take them seriously to help each other.

Funny hand! Do you find calling a 3 big bet raise preflop with this 76s hand out of position in the small blind to be profitable?

I normally don't call OOP with 78s, but when I do , I hit a straight flush ;)
