Thin value bet on river with set

Hey, I have two questions about the hand I played:
1) Was my preflop call correct? The guy was 3betting 9% from SB and not that likely to fold to a 4bet (fold_to_4bet = 52%).
2) Is my river bet on the small end of the sizing correct? I thought the guy, who seemed to be a solid reg, would fold to a big bet, but still call the smaller-sized one, so I can squeeze some more value that way. And I'm losing less too if he's accidentally got the flush himself, thought as played it's unlikely.

Prima, $0.10/$0.20 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 7 7
3 folds, Hero raises to $0.40, SB raises to $1.30, BB folds, Hero calls $0.90

Flop: ($2.80) A 7 2 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $1.40, SB calls $1.40

Turn: ($5.60) T (2 players)

River: ($11.20) K (2 players)

1. 77 is a normal call BTNvsSB.
2. You can make the flop and turn bets bigger. OTR 2 draws complete and we shouldnot bet big.

Preflop is fine. Flop and turn you could bet a bit bigger. OTR I don't know if we can x/c and is x/f too weak? If we check we give villain the opportunity to bluff? So betting small and folding to a raise should be ok, or am I wrong?

guy turned his hand face up as so many bad regs do in this spot. sizing on the river is great because he won't figure out the obviousness behind it.
imo the only real question in this hand is what was your plan if he shoves over your river vbet? I guess b/f? everything else is obv.

I don't see any other way to play preflop - no reason to fold and absolutely no reason to consider 4betting with 77.

I think you played this quite well. It is possible that he just got there with KK but that's not likely at all. AA and TT might play this way otf but these will most likely xr turn because the board is ugly. His range is gonna be a lot of weak Ax hands that play this way because he thinks he is in a way-ahead/way-behind bluffcatch situation once he hits TP, but he should fold river (and actually fold turn too I think) as played. For that reason I think we should bet the turn slightly bigger to put his KK and weak Ax into a tough situation and then we can go for our bet on the river.

The only issue I have with the river sizing is that we are sizing it based on his range, so if he is paying attention he might see this as an opportunity to fold his bluffcatchers because small = you want a call.

It would also be interesting if he x/shoves river My question to you is what flushes do you think he will have here?

Damn, I'm blind
In that case it is a bet/fold for me. Although checking behind is not bad.

Xb is a nice option, imo. We have sd value and all draws got there. What worse is calling?

Yeah but as an exploit (you just don't get exploited for making a small bet here), if you are planning to xb then you can just bet any small amount you think will get called by some weak pair. You will not get bluffed here 99% of the time, so you get away with it fine and make more bb in the process :)

A4s, apparently... Villain can call AK,AQ,AT also. Or KTs? We have 7d and there is Ad,Kd and Td on the board so villain shouldn't have so many flushes here. I don't know if villain 3bets QJ pre or calls turn with gutshot.. So he has many Ax and Kx hands. Heros bet sizes are smallish and villain can call with Ax hands and 2 pair here.

Just bet river. The draws that came in are backdoor. I would make flop and turn a bit bigger though for more value. He will check call alot of medium Ax.

I think you played this hand great. I like the call pre flop. i will almost always call a reasonable size raise with basically any pocket pair pre flop. I think you could have made your bets bigger on all three streets though. Other than that, very well played, in my opinion.

I hope you are not calling those...

I would bet the flop also lower to induce bluffs and have a solid read if called. OTT we can highly assume villain has the Ace and we can bet bigger here OTT. OTR is indeed a value bet since villain still can fold out many Aces IMO.

Not all of those.. I might call AK or AT. Depends on villain and bet size.

I do not think that a normal villain will be calling all Ax here. As played, we should make a note and bet him off his shoes.

This, villain showing up with A4 OTR here makes us want to kiss him.

Preflop we can only easily call because we minraised to steal. If we had make a proper 3BB raise, the villain's triple-plus-some 3bet would have come up to about $2 (+$1.40) and made our recall a little more marginal at 14.3 to one (maximum implied ratio on the effective $20.00 stack). Still a call in position, but only pending your postflop play in 3bet pots.

Some people are not confident in floating middle pairs in 3bet pots, and if you intend to make weak folds postflop here (say, you'll release to cbet on a 29J rainbow board), you probably can't call for set value. The villain's 3bet range is too weak to get dependable set payoff, so if you are not standing your ground with middle pair on boards that don't hit the villain's 3b range well, you should just fold more to 3bets preflop and instead respond by 4betting wider for value.
