I prefer xb on turn. Board is awful.

I think betting flop and turn is fine. But when he shoves we can already be drawing dead vs a boat. So it's a simple bet/fold. Playing a checkback is an option, but it can be cheaper to bet the turn ourselves and be in control of the potsize. I really hate calling a big bet on the river (and level myself this way)

What hands do we expect to call us?

I think we could check back OTT but betting is not bad. When villain raises we have to fold. We are facing better hands too often, yes we still have that Ad but board is paired...

Single diamond overpairs and AJ might call one more street imo.

Single diamonds with no Ace will not be so eager to call here...

Maybe not but I still think we are going to get some calls from weaker hands.

Yes, I believe it is very much possible that villain finds the call button with some Jx hands. Depends on villain of course.

I think that to bet or not to bet depends a lot about your image and your history vs this player. If you barrel a lot you could barrel here too and get called light.

If you have a tighter image(you do't get called down so light) you could check back and call river. Its nice to have strong hands in your turn x/river call range so you don't always check turn and fold river on blanks when villain bets.

I disagree here. Board is scary for TP hands.

check back ott is a better option imo. board is too scary and villain is never raising worst.

I think bet/folding turn was good. He will still call a 1/2 bet with top pairs. And many river can be scary for his top pairs. Also I think he would have raised a set on the flop as well. So you are still way ahead of his range ott. So the only question would he call a bet? But i don't think a reason why he shouldn't call

Unless one as a principle goes broke with AA, this is a spot to either check back or bet/fold. Which of the latter is best is an exercise in range estimates and opponent tendencies that is best performed by the person involved. The important thing is that our equity in the last 50bb that goes into pots like these (if they go in at all) is absolutely horrible. Expect to win almost all pots with 40-50bb invested, and expect to lose almost all when all the money goes in. That is what unimproved aces are about.

I'd personally check turn and call a reasonable river bet on most cards.

I like the bet on the flop. But when the board pairs on the turn, I would probably just check/call, and check/call the river too.
