should i ever really be folding here? I feel like the hand was fine but im not sure

When you have a limper in front, raise to 4-5BB.
Villain's line is for value on micro limits.

Villains line looks weird.. Usually sets will raise OTF or they should raise at least OTT. Now villain is basically repping 44 or 35 and neither are calling flop and turn. I don't see many bluff hands that call flop and turn and decide to donk 1/2?

I think it might be slightly better to fold but calling is not a terrible mistake.

Flop is low and dry ( :) ) so he is repping a set.

Yes it is annoying. Same thing applies in this hand. Fold without 2 pair or better. Villain looks like a fish and he could do this with weaker hand or as a bluff sometimes but better to be safe than sorry :)

Agree that it is annoying but AA is not as strong postflop as it is preflop. :)
Here we have 2P but still folding is ok.

They key to remember is that your pre flop holding strength is merely that! Pre flop. Once the flop arrives the dynamics change. Consider what hand did you gave the villain on? Did his play represent that? He does appear to be repping a set, yet you maintained your belief in AA being God of all hands. Nice to see you folded in the second example. It's a tough call..... With the risk of being bluffed, but read the situation and okay accordingly!

I also do not like river bets from unknowns, fish, etc. Better safe than sorry IMO

Losing 40 bb with nut overpair versus awkward player is no disaster. Folding the second hand is probably no disaster either. Playing any other way is dangerously close to promoting yourself to "master hand reader", a habit many engage in, when they should instead simply look at pot odds.
