Worst Idea Ever, even though i can see his logic, i would wait until the SS is out and your ITM, i mean, it's only going to be 4/5 hands MAX, if not the next hand..

Folding aces in this spot is a really big mistake!

Beside that the situation is wrong, who was the bb, why can he raise to 1400 with 800blinds?
But I'll make a small Analysis there(assuming the midstack was the bb and your friend minraised).
Your friend has 8,400 behind, when he calls the Pot would be 20,000+blinds=21,200.
If he folds the Stacks would be: bigstack 13,600; hero 8,400; midstack 7,200; shortstack 800. Your $ev would be 30.58%
If you call and win the stacks would be: (former) bigstack 800, hero 21,200; midstack 7,200; shortstack 800. Your $ev would be 43.79%
If you call and loose your $ev would be 0% (suprise ...).
If you call and tie the stacks would be: bigstack 11,400; hero 10,600; midstack 7,200; shortstack 800. Your $ev would be 33.23%.
So against a range of KK+ you would be win in 70.382% tie in 14.061% and lose in 15.587%
$ev-call = 0.70382*43.79% + 0.14061*33.23% = 35.4927481%
So with a fold you are loosing almost half a buyin (or in other words almost 5% of the prizepool).

Even when you would know the bigstack would only push T9s (where AA would lose at the highest percentage of the time [win 77.615%; tie 0.362%; lose 22.023]) $ev-call = 0.77615*43.79% + 0.00362*33.23% = 34.1079011%. Even only against AA your $ev-call would be 31.88%.

Folding aa preflop is only +$ev in sattelites and dons.

Folding AA is definately +ev! Heres a hand from about 5 min ago, hand timed out just as I was reraising

How can i fold it.Probably you read many things like i will say now.

I was grinding my way from two satellites (total of 8.000 players) and got to the the tournament.Happy i made it near in the money, like 200 seats (btw, reg players 8000, i was in final 1100).
Left with 28 blinds i was under the gun with ace's and i just called hoping to trap someone.And i did, a pair of 9's goes all in only one caller, I.He rivered his set.
Semi-tilting left with 9 blind. BB next hand, once again ACE'S.All folded, SB goes all in.I call.He flops a set of deuce's.

that reminds of aces I had on some rebuy. me and 4 more ppl went all in pre flop
me- A :spade:A 73.92%

The q-7 made a straight (naturally) on the river and won this pot. since it was a rebuy it wasn't such crazy call from him, no matter now. but do notice that the pocket kings couldn't win this pot and had only a 0.42% for tie. even if it wasnt a rebuy and I was to be the last to act I still would'v call. it was either become chip leader on early stage or to get short stucked/busted but to know that's poker.

in tournaments pot odds arent considered due to the ICM AND when your on a tournament you dont want to risk your 1000 chips 1:100 for 10 chips, is that clear? I mean if you are playing 100 tournaments and in all you get to make all in to win 20 chips or loose 1000 with a 1%chances of loosing all it is not a fair trade. Plus visualize this, where do you have most chances of winning to tournaments with 2000 chips each or 1 tournament with 4000 chips in it?
So what your saying is right on cash tables with the exampleof the chips you loose 1000 and win 2000 but in a tourney you loose 1 buy in and keep 99 get it?
Your staking your Buy in in a tourney but your staking your bet on a cash table.

so if you play on say 30 tournaments all you get a 60% chance totriple up and in 1 you triple up youl triple up in about 19 tournaments but you'll loose 21 buy ins which you might not get back

In this case it is correct to go all in but in some cases dont take odds into account
