In a 5way pot I think you're bet OTF is ambitious, so I would check the flop
OTT once you get called twice I would check unimproved
OTR it looks weird but I cant see that you're winning so you have to fold

Early on with anything less than top pair be cautious, especially in multiway pots

You are calling pre-flop for set value and you are playing 5 ways.
So I would try to check it down and give up on a reasonable bet.

Thanks for the replies guys but can't say that I agree. I think your lines are very passive. Sure, I am calling to set mine but when that flop comes down, I have a decent pair and the original aggressor checks to me - I think I'm good most times. I am betting for protection on both streets. Putting them on overcards or straight draws, I think that it's best to keep betting. The turn certainly doesn't scare me but it does put more potential draws out there, hence I bet again to make them pay to draw. Their shove makes no sense unless the river made them a straight or a flush - especially considering that I bet both streets. Would they be doing that with a 9? Pocket 8s maybe? No way they hit a set on the flop and played it passively while the board got more dangerous. What solid hand could the villain of had that they wouldn't continue their aggression on the flop? Even if they hit top pair, would they check it into 4 other people? Seems as passive as me checking the flop when it got to me.

OTF, I agree with the above comments that you midpair is no good against 4 opponents that is why you need to check it down and not be ashamed of passiveness of your "action". There are weaker made hands and draws in your opponent's preflop ranges especially if they are passive and fishy but then you will never know what you are getting called by. Any kind of tight opponents would just fold preflop weak or marginal hands and never go further with a 2nd or 3rd pair in a multiway pot.
If you believe that passive opponents will not be playing their sets, 2 pairs or a top pair passive on a wet board which is not the case here since you block most of 78 combos, they actually often will at least up untill the turn. If a tight opponent hold a set then he would also most likely have called down and let you play aggro your non-draw hand and get value.
As I said because of your blockers (note that 78s is impossible cos you hold 7d) and petty likelihood of a runner-runner diamond draw which would continue OTF (89d,T9d,J9d,Q9d,K9d,A9d,76d,65d where you beat only 2/8 of overall combos) you actually have nothing to protect against and should have made a conclusion that you were just trying to bluff out the hand better than yours and I doubt that you ever succed when such a blank card as 3d comes OTT.
OTR you are lucky that he shoves you and you don't neeed to bluff anymore.

You said it yourself. You called to setmine. I have to agree with the other guys, trying to bet twice into a 5 way pot with a small pair doesn't makes alot of sense to me. If you are set mining your plan should be to only continue on sets, and maybe on boards like this if there only are two people in the pot.

in a 5 way pot, do you really think you are ahead when you dont even have top pair?

in a 5 way pot your hand against
4 random hands - has 25% - so you lose 75% of the time........
4 top 40% hands - has 20%
4 top 30% hands - has 18.5%
etc etc
