As a new player it's all micro stakes as I learn.My question concerns games with rebuys and add ons, I've not played in one but watched several and it seems people play a lot more reckless ( 1 player I noted made 10 rebuys in as many hands ) Can you play these tournaments without having to rebuy or pay the add on and have a chance of winning? Seems like the only one who wins is the house because I never noticed the payout growing and most players that do make it past the bubble have to be losing money unless you make the top three. PASS OR PLAY ?????

When I 1st started playing MTTs, I only played freezeouts as I wasn't prepared to fall in to the trap of continually rebuying (or double rebuying) as the MTT would be hard to profit on.
As I became a more confident and competent player, I started to add in some R/A's as they can offer good value if you don't need to rebuy. My general rule is to never rebuy but always add on as the add on chips will often be more substantial and I would be at too much of a disadvantage to the rest of the field if I failed to take it.
If you do want to rebuy, then you need to set a stop point. When does rebuying or double rebuying become bad value in relation to the effective stack size you get and the size of the blinds.
They are certainly winnable. I have shipped a .€1 R/A on iPoker (~300 players) and almost FT'ed (8th in a 6-Max) a €3 iPops R/A, both with only the add on.

For me it really depends on the tournament. In slow tournaments I like to start with a double stack and quit when busted. In Splash Tournaments (turbo format with 1.5 hours rebuy period and big addon) I never quit before the addon and never buying a double stack.
If you reach the addons it is almost mandatory to buy it.
