I have started to digest Confidant91's session more deeply, i.e. wached No Limit Beginner Course - Live play with the basic strategy (3) again and took notes on some interesting spots, what the coach says about it, etc. like these ones for example:

AQo on BTN sv MP: call 3 BB

  • Flop: KT4, MP raise 1/2 pot
~ It is our trash hand, we can just simply fold
    ~ call here
~ if he does not continue betting on the turn, we just bet 1/2 pot and a bit more (in this example 1/2 pot + 2 BB) in order to fold out his 2nd - 3rd pairs

AQo on BB vs UTG limp and BTN 3BB raise

  • Pre-flop: call
For more experienced player it is possible to 3-bet here
  • Flop: 8AK
~ we have a made hand, and accoring to our lesson we are playing check / call
  • Turn: 6
~ no one bet on the flop, which mean the BTN guy does not have a made hand
-> bet 2/3rd of the pot oa top pair
    -> BTN guy 3-bet us /about pot size/
-> FOLD, we should give him a credit, beause
  • people usually don't bluff a bet on the turn and a call from the fish

AKo 3-bet on pre-flop open raise: 3x of original bet

... and so on. I took me a while to take these notes (5 pages in a A♥:5♥: booklet)

Speaking about AK: anyone know how to play this hand profitably? I mean... I wached the How to play AK video (did not make notes yet, so not learned yet  )
I have checked in Hand2Note, I have 40 hand in NL2 playing AKo or AKs and here is the result:

And today's AK is not even counted as I see from the result. AK is vulnerable or I don't know how to use them, but :spit:

Spoiler

$0.01/$0.02 No Limit Holdem

Stacks:
UTG ($71.5BB) 72bb
UTG+1 ($107BB) 107bb
CO ($125BB) 125bb
BTN ($98BB) 98bb
SB Hero ($108BB) 108bb
BB ($239.5BB) 240bb
Pre-Flop: (1.5BB, 6 players) Hero is SB K♣: A♠:

3 folds, BTN raises to 4BB, Hero raises to 12BB, 1 fold, BTN calls 8BB

Might be the raise not necessary, I have to re-wach the How to play AK correctly video again...

Flop: A♥: Q♥: 3♣: ($24.5BB, 2 players)
Hero bets 17.5BB, BTN calls 17.5BB
Turn: T♥: ($59.5BB, 2)
Hero bets 20BB, BTN goes all-in 68.5BB, Hero folds

Tried a thin bet here (1/3 pot) to make him fold his "other-than-flush" hand. It did not work. At least I did not loose a full BI

Final Pot: $148BB
BTN wins $142BB (net +$44BB)
Hero lost $49.5BB

Of course I do not want to mention my NL5 speed tables here (I played these before I applies to the Bankroll Challenge) because my stat is winnig here, € 11 profit in 28 hands  )

I was sitting out right after this hand (of course waiting for the BB) and sat in an NL5 Speed table. Then within 12 hands I took revenge with a A♦:A♣: on a Q♠:Q♣:
Was lucky this time, no Q came on the streets, so I am back to €35 again. Feels like a gambling, sorry guys :|

It's not gambling if you win

If I am sticking (more likely) to the beginner's strategy, then I am doing fine. I am staying out of the trouble but in this case others in the table are exploting me very often just by raising because I am folding :f_mad:

I struggle with this sometimes as well. I'm also basically learning from scratch again and there's soooo many things I want to do that I know I shouldn't. I think it's really important to just stick to the standard lines you're learning now even if you feel like people are exploiting it. You can stray away from those standard lines once you get a bit better and start learning new and more advanced things again.

I came home from the hospital on Wednesday (they are fast, don't they)

Sure are, it's almost like an assembly line sometimes :f_biggrin:

Joking aside, hopefully that pacemaker will help you live your life a lot more comfortably! And hopefully it'll also help you reach your poker goals :)

Nice blog sir, will be following. :)

Hey TJtheTJ,

Nice to see you in my blog, thank you for leaving a message :f_drink:

there's soooo many things I want to do that I know I shouldn't.

So true

That pacemaker also has some connection with the Title of this blog :f_cool:

GL on the tables :f_thumbsup:

I don't really know where to start. :f_confused:

I am a bit tried now as I just finished collecting elderflower, and were preparing it to make some syrup (or squash, I don't know the proper name here). Took a picture for you so you can imagine :f_cool:

Since I was at home this week, I had more opportunity to deal with poker. Usually I started it taking a 30 minutes on Confidant's lesson 4, taking notes, then was playing more or less. My longest session was 1,5 hour long and played 250 hands in this session on 2 regular tables.
I have to say that I better like speed poker, unfortunately this is only available from NL5 at Betfair... :f_mad:
I am considering moving to Pokerstars, I still have some $28 there, will see how it comes. The only problem is that my Pokerstars account is not tracked :f_cry:

I am sharing the May's graphs this time, as this is the 4th week of my Bankroll challenge. Here it is:

As you can see I am breaking even in this graph, and since there are not too many played, I am able to show the biggest losses and wins :f_cool:

And for the Bankroll challenge:
I am optimistic now (as always :f_drink: ) taking the fact that in the first month I was able to do it breaking even, while I am still learning how to play poker that is

Week4

Hands played (cash table): 1166
Profit: € 0,12
Starting bankroll: € 32,15
Current BR: € 33,95

I know that putting up the volume should not be a goal -especially at the beginning-, but this some 3k hand for a month looks really miserable for me :|

Let's say I will fiddle one more month around iPoker, and if I still feel it is not comfortable, I will give a shot at Pokerstars :f_cool: The problem is how to report it at the Bankroll challenge :sifflote: One day to the next there will be an instant drop at my bankroll
Wow, I am optimistic! :)

Today I tried a bit of mass tabling - which means I just opened 3 tables at once xD

And wow, I just got way more premium hand within 180 than I really used to :) K♦:K♣:, A♣:K♥:, A♣:A♥:, A♥:Q♠:, A♥:K♥:, K♦:J♦:, 9♠:9♦: just to speak about the biggest wins (and just a short short commemoration on the biggest losses K♣:Q♣:, A♣:K♦:, A♥:T♠: )

These hand brought me some :profit: Today, just check out the 'end of the week' graph later :f_drink:

Last week has started quite well as you can see in my previous post :f_thumbsup:
But I had only 3 days when I could play on my computer, and during the weekend I was studying (Confidant's 4th) and playing a but on my mobile phone. So my graph is not showing everything.

Meanwhile I had

  • a good sleep on Thursday :f_cool:
  • a dating day with my wife (yes, without children) :f_love:
  • a Pentecost weekend, just arrived home
  • 17 bottle (1,5 litre each) elderflower syrup :f_drink:

During the weekend I finished 4th course of Confidant's and started the 5th. The 5th one is what I need badly and it will take longer to take some notes on it, because it contains more new lines than I have done so far. But honestly, can't wait to finish this course and start some w34z3l or double2...

What is in the graph, that looks great:

and my weekly result is:
Week5

Hands played (cash table): 883 (Betfair tells me)
Starting bankroll: € 32,15
Profit: € 2,1
Current BR: € 36,05

Just a quick update for today, but hey, where are my graphs from the previous posts? :f_o: :wtf:

I felt myself too tired to study poker this week, but in the other hand I was sleeping quite well on Confidant's voice

So played a few hands on Betfair and also touched my Pokerstars account. I had some 26,xx $ there. I like graphs, and here are the result:

Sorry to put it into one picture, but it tells all of my hesitation:

  • Should I move to Pokerstars completely?
  • Or should I try the NL5 fast poker at Betfair?
  • Or should I keep playing on both?

Definitely will go with the 3rd option for a while, then probably will try the NL5 fast poker at Betfair.

For now I think I will go with this until a bankroll limit (50? 75? 100? -don't know yet)

And Pokerstars was also giving me this:

twice :f_drink:

At Bankroll challenge I am reporting Betfair only yet, but let's take a note my PS bankroll here:

Week6

Hands played (cash table): 178
Starting bankroll: € 32,15
Profit: € 1,34
Current BR: € 37,39
(Pokerstars bankroll: $ 33,94)

Bought a new computer, because my old one was already 9 years old, Windows Vista on it, and since Vista is no longer supported I decided to replace the whole thingy. Who wants to buy a new Windows for an old HW anyway? :)

So I played only last Monday, and I am enjoying my well-awarded "holiday" in poker

And here are last week's results:

Week 7

Hands played (cash table): 68
Starting bankroll: € 32,15
Profit: € 0,79
Current BR: € 38,17
(Pokerstars bankroll: $ 35,58)

BTW was able to re-install everything, even my database is up on my new computer. Only I am not in the mood to play poker at the moment ... so let's have some beer :f_drink:

I am still spending my poker holiday, while I am going to a real vacation.
We are visiting Croatia with my family, 3rd time in a raw. This time we are going to Krk (and Nin after that).

I am checking the presence of a blogbuster there :f_drink:

Take care until I come back :f_cool:

Hi guys,

Well, probably you could guess that I have left the poker world -for a moment :f_cool:-, just wanted to leave some word and opt out from the Bankroll challenge.

It is interesting to see how I am getting and leaving a mood for playing poker. Don't get me wrong, I still love playing poker, I just haven't played it since my last word here.

Cheers :f_drink:
