HOW TO EXTRACT MORE $$

Hi,

I defended SB and made a strong hand and I think a lot in how to extract more money in this spot.
As the flop was pretty drawy I decided to just call.
On turn I'd don't know how to react and just call. Should I re-raise?
On river I just check expecting the villain bet but was a mistake in my opinion.

I do not know if the plop is pretty drawy but that is more a question of me than a statement.

On the turn re-raise generates a lot of folds I think.
I think on the river you should have value bet that one for sure.
I even would check my AA back on your check when I were MP but would call a potential bluff.

You are out of position and that sucks :f_frown:

I defended SB

What?
Fold pre-flop. As played, bet-bet-bet 55-60%.

Fold pre.

As played I think it is hard to get more money on this runout. You could consider leading the flop and using bet bet bet line. Another option is to check raise the flop or turn but we would really be playing our hand face up and just get a lot of folds. Donking the river has the same effect.. So I guess overall this was fine.

Would you fold your JJ there for 1/3 pot? And if yes why? I probably would look him up. Do you think that is wrong?

Difficult question..
I probably might not fold here but I think I should.

Call call donk is just a super strong line. Would you ever bluff like that, especially on this board?

Thanks all for reply and the main lesson learned is: Fold preflop

3bet or fold pre (so often fold pre).

Flop completely static you meant I suppose, so ok to just flat indeed.
But turn you have a check/raise (then broke river), it was the point.

(By the way I don't get how he can check back JJ here lol)

You don't have to "defend" the small blind ever in multi-way pots. The fact that the board is somewhat drawy is an excuse to play aggressively, not passively. You have nuts (well, 44, A♠:5♠: and 6♠:5♠: have you nutted, but scared money never won fair pot), and a drawy board is what you want. It is the chance to make money with hands like this. A semi-bad player with AA/KK will rarely get away. Whether you donk, check-raise flop or check-raise turn is another discussion.

If you can't extract the maximum when flopping lucky, you definitely have to let these hands go preflop. Also always let go if opponent are good (unwilling to lose stack with TP/overpair).
