Brutal, sickening downswing.

Oh damn, that is nasty. But these downswings will happen from time to time. I think for me during the last 100k hands I have had 2 or 3 swings where I lose 10 stacks in just a few thousand hands. Every time it feels as stupid.
But no worries, you will get it back. Look at how fast you won money from about 7k hands to 11k hands, and from 12k to 16k. The most important thing right now is that you try to play as good as possible and not tilt (I know, easier said than done). Everyone will lose at some point, but what tells a winning player and a losing player apart is how they handle their losses.

Yeah,.. I played the J9 hand I posted absolutely horribly and became extremely tilted so quit. And to be honest I still feel tilted now even though I've just slept.. ugh..........

Give it some time. You will get used to it and swings will have less and less impact on you. You work on your game so chances are that at some point you will be 4bet bluffing for the value for this whole swing:f_cool:

The downswing lasts so far 6 K hands. That´s not SUCH a bad one. Don´t get me wrong, everybody can understand you here, but I had a 22K hand downer, so a 6K downie seems to me quite bearable. But downswings suck anyway, they are unfortunately part of the game. Not everybody agrees with me what I say now, but during a downer I move down in limits and grind it out on the lowest limits. During a downie you loose anyway. So why loosing like 100 Euro when you can loose 20 Euros? Jared Tandler totally disagrees with it, but I decided to do it my way and deal with the dowswings in the cheapest way I can. I register in the cheapest tourneys and fold the crap hands and loosing there while doing something else besides: reading, watching a movie, do some research for my work ...etc. I know some of the members here get a heart attack reading this but my opinion is: Do everything which does you good and which helps you to get through it.

I've had a worse graph in the distant past so I'm not a noob to downswings.
Just on an IRL downswing as well as in-game right now, so it's getting to me that little bit more.

I would only flat pf, but 3-bet is also ok. AQ plays well in position. Would not c-bet on this (wet) flop, you have besides a gutshot draw, the flop could have hit Villains range (like: 88+ A9s+, KTs+ ATo+, QTs+, JTs+) better than our hand. We have a strong gutshot-draw to the nut-str8 and an overcard (if an A helps us is questionable), so would take the free card and besides it would suck to get x/r -ed.

Bet turn (as played), sizing about 75 % pot, okay.

River: The board pairs, the 9 is not a good card for us. With which part of his range could Villain play like this?

*pure bluff, busted FD in hearts (some heart combo), or busted str8 draw (but caution, we block some str8 draw combos)
* A9s (we block an ace, so gets less likely)
*AQ/AQs (we block AQ)
*JJ, KK, TT, 3 combos each (9 combos)
*99 (unlikely), 1 combo left

I would call with the broadway str8, there are more bluff combos than value-combos, we don´t hold a card in hearts, so we unblock his FD-combos. There are more combos we beat than those which beat us.

So, would call river too.

I wouldn´t focus on this during a downer. I would focus on pampering your soul and getting out of the downswing without tilts. Would postpone the run for gold and focus on minimizing losses.

As I said: The advice I gave you CAN help but not everyone agrees with my way of coping. And eventually, everybody has to find his individual way to cope with downies. So, it´s a bit hard to give a really constructive advice.

Thought you played that AQ hand very well until river when you could see a house was possible on river, but at times I can convince myself there bluffing. Basically you got him to bet into a pot on the turn with odds of 2 to 1 for him when his odds of winning were around 11 to 1 to get it precise go on a poker odds checker if you haven't done already. That means to me you were playing this hand well it was just unlucky he hit 1 of his 4 outers, as for the downswing don't let it affect the way you play and chase the money. When your bankroll had grown did you start playing a more expansive game where you stick with hands where as when bankroll was smaller did you play a tighter game to conserve your bankroll. This is not a bad way to play as your game is progressing and you are thinking more about what your opponent is holding but while your on a downswing it may be better to tighten up and just play for value. Get a good hand get the money in get an average hand and try and get to showdown cheap if you look at your graph it says $40 up so your not losing just not winning as much as you were. I took $500 off a site as I needed the money left me with $150 now I knew I was fairly good as my profit showed started playing again 5/10 expecting to be ok when I was down to $60 I thought this is not going to plan dropped to 2/5 played for value very little bluffing have gone right up again now can play 10/20 but quite happy at 5/10 for the moment.
