MARGINAL HAND

Hey,

Reviewing the last played SNG this hand tricks me out.
MP3 as others players are "limping" players and with hands such 62o, Ax, Q3 and so on.
I decided to stab @sb due excellent odds 10-1.
Flop: Mp3 betting 1bb I supposed he was defending a bottom pair. I decided to just call because I didn't see a value and would love to play this hand cheaply.
Turn: I made a flush and MP3 against bet 1bb and I decided to just call to maintain in-game pars, 2 pars, etc.
River: as mp3 player was leading the hand I decided to check-raise and was a surprise when he 3bets shove me. What is the odds of he had a diamond suited hand I thought to myself? There are 13 diamonds, 5 of them are already known and 8 of them are in the middle of other cards - MP3 had 21% of chance to have a suited diamond card and a little more than 50% would be higher than 9. I decided to go broke.

My thinking about this hand is:

Should I play it pre-flop in the early game?
Marginal hands like that will affect my image's table badly and won't be good for the tourney.
On the river, I played too much aggressive and should just call?
