Flop straight with a passive fish

3bet PF.

As played is tough to muck the nut straight. Unfortunately u dont have a club in ur hand (blocker, redraw).

But imo we have to get it in OTF. He have some worse hands in his range as well. Another club OTT would kill the action.

I've played a similar hand today. Same result.

When really passive players suddenly get active, I get out of the hand.
Mind you, I am certain that I get bluffed out of a lot of pots this way.

Just out of curiosity, did you consider check-raising the flop?

If you do, he has to call you with the 3rd nut flush, and if he is passive, he might fold. (I peeked at the results)

But if i check raise i kinda isolate the range for only the flushes, no? This way he could play this mb sometimes eith worst aswell.

Exactly -- you turn your hand into a bluff.
Not really a good idea, but by betting at all on that board, you are pretty much repping a flush.

When we bet, we want one of two things to happen:
 We want worse hands to call
 We want better hands to fold

I often add a third:
 We want to get our equity right now, and not give villain a chance to out-draw us.

So, if those are the two (or three) reasons to bet, ask yourself:
 Which worse hands will call
 Which better hands will fold.

If you bet, I think you need to fold to the raise, since if he does have the flush, you have no outs to improve at all.

I would really like to hear what others have to say about this hand, since it is a spot that occurs a lot.

Yes, it's hard to decide if he would play like this with worst hands. The stats suggest that no, but i can't trust them with this small sample size.
But mb he could do this with sets and A high fd-s too. And if you put theese into an equilab with already made flushes, i think we have the equity to go broke here.
But then again if he is super passive post flop, its probably - EV play.

Can’t see a passive player here. Ok, stats are from 42 hands, and i regularly decline to take stats from a too small sample size. But after 42 hands, you have a tendency. And 45/36 is loose-aggressive. Playing so many hands and still having an AF of 1,5, that player is far from being passive. And against an overly aggressive player, i’m all-in otf faster than light. You will face worse straights, top set, top2 (raised for protection) and strong draws (raised as a bluff, but with equity if hand continues), and, of course, once in a while, a flush.

I do not mind the flop bet as there are worse hands calling. I do not like to play for stack though...
