Hey,

Used to blog here but just been a long time lurker for a while. 2 months ago I decided to quit my job to become a professional poker player. I've played for around 9 years but only just taken the leap of faith to become a full time pro.

I wanted to start blogging again because I don't really have many poker friends these days, most of my old friends quit in the last few years so yeah would be kinda cool to meet a few pros. My game kinda sucks too so would be good to talk some poker / do some solver work with people. (Send me a msg if u wana talk poker sometime) Also in the middle of a £12k downswing so kinda nice to have somewhere to vent. Also bunch of other life bullshit that I will probably post here.

I'm playing a bunch of stakes across a bunch of soft sites. Trying not to put all my eggs in one basket so also working on some cool software and involved in one or two different projects.

Another reason that I wanted to start blogging is because I just got HM2 setup on my laptop (was super lazy, couldnt remember the login for my licences so just never bothered (cant use hud on half the sites anyway only track results) but since my downswing i wanted to monitor results/hands so i can do some HH reviews and stuff to improve)

This is the last 1 year (I was also working full time for most of it so volume isn't exactly sick right). Since I went pro u can see im basically a b/e grinder. The #hands isnt exact (hard to track guestimated) but the winnings are pretty much right - excluding some solid mtt losses)

All graphs will be proper HM2 graphs from now on. Duno how often I will post. Oh results are in ££ because im from England and don't see the point in tracking stuff in $$ unless you play on [morerakeisbetter]stars.

Anyway grinding now so will post graph and maybe talk some more later. I wonder if any of my old poker friends are still around. :f_drink:

Goal 100k from this blog til new years eve this year (starting -12k)

Kinda of a meh day really. I checked my overall results properly and after this bad boy im stuck £14k in this swing.

Starting to feel slightly irritated with the swing as I just can't get any momentum at the moment. Also super busy with projects and other RL stuff at the moment that I can't really get out of which is annoying because I can't just degen 24 hour grind like the old days.

You can definitely tweak your approach to results and mental game
It becomes a higher pressure when poker's your sole income, and the +- become a burden instead of a motivator

You will find it much easier when you shift on process goals you can directly influence immediately (hours etc.) and put results to the side.
I mean looking at a 1k hand snippet sample - what good can it ever do :)

@LemOn36: Thank you for stopping by the blog! It's definitely harder mentally once you solely rely on poker that's for sure. I think generally my mental game is decent. I'm generally not affected by the size of my swings, i've been through swings twice the size in terms of both ££ and bb. I think the thing that frustrates me about this particular swing is that because of all the projects and other things going on in my life right now my volume is pretty low, which makes the swing last longer (in terms of time, not hands obviously) and that sort of begins to grow a sort of frustration inside of me. That said, i've always grinded out of swings in the past and the projects I am working on will deliver income in the future so I need to just breathe out and relax I think.

Taking a break on my session for today. Not sure how much I am up, probably +3k or so, plenty of the day left to play though.

This weekend I won't play at all as tomorrow we have our local carnival and I am in it. So, on Sunday I will probably post some pictures of our carnival float on here. (Assuming i'm not too hungover :f_drink: :f_drink: :f_drink:)

I took yesterday off grinding unfortunately, was kind of annoyed I had hoped to get in some volume but between skype meetings, wiring the carnival float (music/lights) and cooking dinner with my girlfriend (we had chicken gyros w/ home made flatbreads) I just couldn't find the time. I considered playing in the evening after everything was done, but honestly was just feeling tired and thought I would end up making poor decisions. Thought I would be better off getting up a little earlier today and playing rather than forcing it last night.

I'm gonna work on including more real life stuff in this thread, try and get some pictures and stuff in here. Maybe put some pictures up of any nice restaurants we go to and give some kind of review. I've been to a few nice restaurants since poker started becoming more profitable. (Marcus Wareing's 2 Michelin *, Vun 1 Michelin star in Milan, Nobu etc etc) I do think it's a little extravagant but my girlfriend and I really love doing this sort of thing. We try to incorporate it into a weekend away or a holiday or something like that and see it as an experience rather than just 'going for dinner'.

I'm also trying to invest all my spare change in a diverse portfolio, so if anyone wants to talk about stocks/crypto/property i'm always up for that!
