Greetings and welcome to our blog! Personal Background Welcome to our blog. This is a blog of two brothers, caltabiano(20) and dandycal(24). We're Brazilian and live in Brasilia, the capital city. It's a very interesting city, its construction was entirely designed and developed by architects before hand, and the result was unlike any other city in the world. Some say Brasilia is the city of the future for some mystical reason. When all the world sinks in another diluvium, it is said this is one of the few cities that will remain above water. So, yeah, maybe some of you should start considering moving down here:D There are no high buildings here, apart from some government buildings, so we enjoy a beautiful clear view of the sky at all times, from nearly any place in the city. We currently reside in our parents house and apart from poker, we've got a rock band. Caltabiano is the guitarist and dandy's the bassist. It is hard to earn decent money with a music over here, and we both wanna get financial independence. We found poker very promising in that respect. Our first contact with poker came through some friends a few years ago. They taught us how it worked we played a few times and that was all, it was just a random gambling game. By mid 2007, we heard from a friend that he had been playing poker on the internet and he was actually making money from it. And well, we have always been fond of "easy ways" (we didn't know how difficult it would actually be) of making money. So as one of us was searching the internet for poker related stuff, we came accross poker strategy. $50 for free? Yeah, right.. We thought "No way this is true", but we soon found out it actually was. That was the starting point and we'll report our progress over here. This blog has many purposes for us. We know blogs are motivating, because we have been motivated by many of them. It is great to share your own experiences with others and to be able to follow other people's progress and difficulties. So it's a way for us to give something back to the community. We hope our achievements, even small as they still are, can be inspiring to people who are starting off now and to other who are already in the middle of their carrers as we are. This is one of the purposes of this blog. And of course, it also helps us to keep track of our own progress. Poker is not just a hobby for us, we actually want to build a nice bankroll and manage to support ourselves with it (Brazil is very cheap so it's not such a difficult task, especially if one gets paid in dollars). It is also worth mentioning how poker allows us to develop our character in many ways. Patience, calm, nerve-control in gain/loss - victory/defeat situations, community work (in Poker Strategy), discipline and concentration are only some of the virtues that a successful player has to develop, and this is really the greatest benefit of the game. The Beginning of our Poker Careers: Caltabiano, who signed up first, had $50 in party poker. After playing a little bit without any study or dedication he realised he sucked at it and was quickly losing money. He decided to quit. So no poker until october/2008, when finally the gods of poker came into play and gave us some inspiration. There was $150 sitting in caltabiano's party poker in october/2008 (that was starting capital + some efforts with TAF), and he decided to make a serious effort with this poker "thing". Dandycal, who was at the time paying for his own bills with the little he earned from the band's performances while sharing a flat with his girlfriend, got pretty interested at the his brother's new "job". We studied the No Limit SSS articles and began our pilgrimage through the cassino tables. The first results were very positive and we were thinking "Wow, this really works, we'll get lots of money in no time!" Yeah, right... Soon we found ourselves losing nearly all we had won. So it was that we got acquainted with variance and we realised **how much we still had to learn before we could be the least successful in this game. With much effort, caltabiano made his way up to $300, beating NL10 and NL25 SSS, he then decided to switch to BSS. Meanwhile, dandycal was just about to start NL25 when FullTilt closed his account (due to some fraud suspicion) and he was forced to move to another cassino. That was near January 2009. Caltabiano quickly made his way up to NL50 SH and moved to Cake Poker to get the $500 bonus, while dandycal, after moving to PokerStars NL25, had to face a long-term downswing that hindered his progress for a couple of months. In the midst of failures and successes, we kept helping each other out and finding our way through this "hard way to easy money". I am not really fond of a 30 BI BRM with SSS, more like 50+.

This is because things can go wrong in the early stages (losing coinflips but you have no control about that).
A 30 BI BRM is a quite progressive Bankroll and some apply it and move up and down 24/7.

I use a 75 BI BRM to maintain consistency on a limit

Hey Gerv, I totally agree. 30BI is just not enough. I'm back to NL25 for some serious grinding till I reach nearly 75 BI for NL50. On NL50 things will get a lot more fun because I'll probably already try to support myself with poker (as this is a cheap country, NL50 should do =D).

And yeah, I want that package!

Hello everyone,

It's been two weeks since we lost our HD and all data and we are still waiting for the manufacturer to send us a new one.
In the meantime nearly no poker has been going on, but a lot of thinking and major changes are going to happen.

My brother and I have decided not to live with our parents any longer and to rent our own place and support ourselves with our own resources. Depending on others for our own subsistance was spoiling us and it's time we do something about that.

We are saving up some money from gigs and selling lots of stuff we no longer need, in order to have some extra money to help us start off. Yes, we'll become serious grinders, it's going to be poker 24/7 now.

It might be necessary to move to a cheaper city nearby though, so we are just waiting for my brother to finish his semester in school and off we go to get our own flat and grind our living. And even though we are both still moving up to NL50, the cheap currency here and some good rakeback deals will make everything possible. Of course we'll have to start with a humble life-style, cheap meals and a cheap room to live in, but as we move up limits, it all gets fancier

We are only making some preparations at the moment and waiting, waiting, waiting. As soon as there are news we'll update here. Cheers!

Rant:

I have 2 brothers living with my parents. One is like 30, the other like 24. My parents don't speak to each other but live in the same house.

I spoke with my dad about spoiling the younger brother(he doesnt do anything except play games online and go out with friends) but he doesnt understand/care that hes spoiling him.

I get the feeling the ycould accomplish so much if they were kicked out like I was lol

It pisses me off and just wanted to post this. sry =S

I totally agree. That's pretty much what I'm trying to avoid. I'm 24 now, and I had been living on my own for a couple of years already, but now I've been at my parents for about 6 months and I don't want to get used to it. It makes you soft, it does.

Alright lads. Computer's back from maintanence.

I'm gonna make this post short cause I gotta grind ♦

So here's where we stand: like my brother said, we're leaving our parents' house and now we'll have to pay for our own food. How do we plan to do that? Why, playing poker OBVIOUSLY! We're moving out on the 1st of June. So our plan until then is to feed our bankrolls as much as we can. Anyway, we'll keep you posted of course.
Right now I'm downloading installing everything back in the computer. I'm following gerv's reccomendations of PC protection, which can be found here: Gerv's Galaxy: hibernation.

Getting serious

Hello everybody,

So we are back to work at full speed. We're moving to our newly rented flat next Monday and we'll be supporting our own asses with our own work. Oh yeah, that'll mean a lot of grinding.

We both need to be playing NL50 if we want to get enough money to pay for rent and groceries, and we are not even there yet! But no worries, it won't take very long. I have decided to go with a very conservative BRM, so I moved back to NL25 for intense grinding. I'll only move up with 75+ BI for NL50.

Variance is very much like a woman. When she treats you nice, everything is fine, you might feel you are in heaven. But when she is mean, she can really be mean. And women tend to be very moody, we all know that.

Anyway, I managed to grind nearly 50K hands in the past couple of weeks and the beginning was just terrible. But now, good times.

Goals :
- Get 30 referred friends in TAF programme. OK![/COLOR]
- Move up to NL50: Min 75BI
