Hand from Ignition 5NL, just wondering what range I should be calling this river with as played. The best hand I think of that I get to this spot with is AJ or backdoor flush like :Ax: . I would have raised the flop min donk with AK or AQ and probably any spades. The villain ended up having 3♦:3♠:.
Villains river sizing is very polarised, he either has a boat or big flush, or missed spades/straight draw. What are all your thoughts on this river fold?

Pre-flop this is already a loose open at a full ring table with A8s. Especially if you deal with a lot ofpassive players behind you. As played flop line is alright, but even than it's likely you are dominated and I would most likely fold on the small raise. Turn is a fold for sure. Idem for river and you can only call with a straight or better on this board and even than you could be beat against a flush or full house against the BTN his value range.

Cheers,

Preflop is on the loose side indeed.
I'm pretty sure raising the flop is +EV. This donkbets are usually so weak and you stay a bit capped by calling. You have a massive range advantage. A good player will try to squeeze the pot IP when facing such weak bet/calls. I also doubt this is the case, although he seems aggressive.
Calling the donkbet and the raise OOP is badly played.

You are super capped from the moment you flat the flop donkbet. You don't represent absolutely anything. Villain can basically bet any 2 and you have to fold, either OTT or OTR.

I agree with playing A8s. I love playing any AXs because it can lead to big flush pots. Except for AK, AX hands are tricky hands to play. Villains love Aces. So, it is common to face two pairs with a board Ace or an Ace with a larger kicker. I am passive with Aces. I tend to Check/Call small bets with Ace rag and fold strong bets with Ace and a weak/moderate 2 to T kicker. You are facing a 16 BB Turn bet. I would call 10 BB, but I would fold 16 BB with an 8 kicker. I tend to not invest much money in AX hands. It is easy to be dominated in these hands.
