Villain was a decent reg. 3betting quite actively from blinds vs late positions. I have low sample but his flop cbet was 4 out of 4 cases OOP.
Preflop and flop standard I assume.
When he checked my thinking was that I do not want to give him free card because he will play AQo, AJo with one spade this way. But on the other hand I do not want to bet big in case he is slowplaying. So I decided for a 1/3 bet which is still a good price for him. He needs 19% and with AsQx, AsJx he has 31%.
Is this a correct play? Would you bet larger or not bet at all?

I think your hand is too weak to consider betting for protection on turn, he should have a lot of stronger hands and AQ/AJ with spade should follow up with cbet on turn almost always. Check/call with AsQx is clear mistake.

Flop is already close with 88 blocking so many bluffs. Raising on a K high board doesn't make much sense when he has range advantage.
Turn bet is what? Charging one card hands that have a flushdraw?
Bet/fold? 88 with no spade is probably one of the worst hands you can bet the turn with. It has showdown value, you cap it when betting.
River is whatever as played.
