I think you played it fine you could maybe size up a bit to 6bb on the flop 1/3p you can fold out all the hands without a spade.But AJ with a spade is one you wont fold out so ye once called check it down 99 has some showdown value still imo.

Due to the fact they check/fold too much on monotone boards and K high boards, I agree with cbetting.
You could keep firing and put on some 88-QQ. To fold out a K you need to double or even triple barrel (if he has a TP with a spade kicker you have to triple barrel for sure).
They also don't stab enough on later streets, so take it to showdown.

I would Cbet around half pot on the flop, but I doubt a random NL2 player will fold any better hands or flush draws on the flop or turn. I don't think a 2nd barrel will work here as bluff orva 3 barrel bluff against a random NL2 player.

I don't know if I like a flop bet at all, our equity seems to go down quite a bit when we get called because the board is all spades and connected and we hold marginal middle pair, anything that calls us has good equity against us.you did manage to bet small enough to keep him in with possible worse but so many bad cards can come,also that is a strange bet of 22% pot what would we do if x/r? probably forced to fold a hand we would like to see a free turn with. I would probably check through the whole hand unless I know my opponent is tight and straightforward and checks with the intention of folding to c-bets frequently.

I would probably just cbet half pot.
