So, having lost my $500 bankroll in one late night session on 5/T fixed limit (I know!) it is time for a $30 to $1000 bank roll challenge.

So here are some things that I need to do.

1. Have a bankroll strategy. So 300 bb needed but can take a shot at the next level at 250bb and move down if I hit 200bb. Stick to this!!!!
2. Study 50% of time and play 50%. I know this sounds a lot but I haven't studied enough for years.
3. Don't play with distractions
4. Only play profitable tables
5. Only play when at least 90% on top form and concentrating.
6. Keep a diary.

So I am using this blog as diary.

Back to the blowing my bankroll playing far too high. It was late, I had a look at the 5/T fixed limit table to see how people play. Sitting there were two massive fish playing like it was a 25c/50c table. Limping, cold calling, never bluffing, only raising the nuts. So I knew it was a gamble, but I thought it was worth it. It will, however now take me months to get back to $500. Well let's see.

So today. I have $30 and hit the 5c/10c games.

Results -$2.47, hands played 1 063, 4.3 hours, rake $3.73. Hours studying - 1 - Logic Knot episode 1, donk bets.(so I am missing that target already)

I have lots of thoughts on how the games went, but will save that for another day.

My main thought is this: I went 25bb down today and it didn't bother me one bit. I was happy and relaxed playing, enjoying it. If I had lost $25 at .5/$1 with a $300 bankroll, that wouldn't bother me. Losing $50 at 1/2 with a $600 bankroll wouldn't bother me. $100 at 2/4 with a $1200 bankroll wouldn't bother me much but it would bother me more than losing the $2.50 today. If though I had taken a shot at 2/4 with a $500 bankroll and gone down $100 it would have played on my mind.

So, lessons learned.
1. Stick to your bloody bankroll!!!!!
2. Stick to your bloody bankroll!!!!!
3.Stick to your bloody bankroll!!!!!

4. Try to ignore the actual value of the chips. If you are playing withing your bankroll then think of them of just chips, not money. This one is hard

Day 3

An interesting spot. On the flop I didn't know if to fold, call or raise.

UTG is a weak player who has vpip of 34% from UTG of which he is raising 11% he is not showdown bound. CO is a very good thinking player who I know well and have played lots at higher limits, he knows that I am attempting to isolate the fish and knows therefore I could be raising light. The other two are action monkeys.

So on the flop there is $1.02 in the pot and I am facing a bet of 5c. My first thought was to fold, then I looked at the odds I was getting and thought I couldn't fold, so I considered raising with the hope of knocking some other players out that may hold KQ KJ but then thought that they were getting such good odds to call with draws even if I raise and I am likely behind anyway that raising wouldn't work, so considered folding again but with my equity thought I couldn't so just called, not knowing what to do really.
Since then I have put in some ranges into an equity calculator and it turns out I had 11% equity on the flop. I am getting 20-1 pot odds. I risk being raised and reraised behind, or at least raised by the thinking player. Even knowing my equity I am not sure what to do here.

So I called and to my surprise the thinking player folded. He told me afterwards it was AJ with J hearts. I trust him. I think that was a mistake?

Turn, I am calling mainly for my flush outs with very little hope of winning with hitting an overcard pair. I have the odds.

River I can't fold.

Thoughts??

I only play limit HE as a component of HORSE or 8-Game, and I find it is difficult to get folds, so I generally tend toward calling when the odds are in my favour.
FL cash is so much different than FL tournament because of the difference in stack sizes.

I'm surprised that two players -- 1 who 3Bet pre, and BTN who cold-capped it could fold such a turn -- what do you suppose there ranges were?
Could they possibly think one of UTG and you could have a deuce? A full house? Both seem unlikely even in limit.

I agree can't fold on river.

Question: If villain had checked the river, would you have bet?

Cheers,
VS

Their ranges were pretty wide including pocket pairs and and QJ0 +. They would fold strong A highs without a heart. Players are very fearful at these stakes. MUBSY.

No to the river bet if checked to as villain very passive and would definitely check two pair and over pairs and folding most of what I beat, apart from the very hand he had!

The more I look at it the more I think that my preflop iso raise was too loose. Considering the players I had behind me.

So far beating the game for 1.6 big bets per 100. Really hoping for 3 or 4 at these stakes. But paying nearly 4 big bets per 100 in rake, so that makes it hard.

I first tried to look up MUBSY, but found it as just "MUBS" I guess the Y makes it an adjective.

In general people fear irrational things -- like the fear of flying for example.
Just statistically, you're more likely to die in a traffic accident, but nobody's afraid of riding in a car.

Well, some might be...

Not a lot of time for poker. A lot of these hands were heads up v a very aggro/maniac. It is a high rake environment and very swingy. +EV in the long run but I took a big loss. Paying 10 big bets per hour to play.

The maniac villain heads up didn't fold anything in the big blind and three bet almost every hand. I adjusted by not raising first in but completing all hands I wanted to play from the small blind and he raised nearly every time, I had the opportunity to cap with a wide and well balanced range or call and take it to the flop.
He raised and barrelled air and weak draws a lot. I made +ev calls but over such a small number of hands if he had a hand then he extracted the max from me and that is what happened.

I'm afraid that under my bed lurks an diabetic member of Al-Qaeda who works for Coca-Cola.
I suspect he has COVID-19
