Oh, I'm very curious about air frying too. I know a bunch of interesting banhauser recipes that call for a deep fryer to be used, and while I should have some old deep fryer somewhere, probably left behind by my late grandparents, I have never used one and I expect that it would not only be a bit of a hassle, but mostly a big mess to use.

I have heard about air fryers before and wondered if they could do the job, but always imagined that they wouldn't quite be able to replace regular deep fryers. I never looked too much into it, though, so I would love to hear from someone who has direct experience with them.

I'm also curious about the make & model of your multicooker Prim.
It doesn't sound the same as the one I linked -- ours definitely does air frying, but it also does pressure cooking and steaming and a bunch of other tasks I haven't tried. Mrs Vorpal uses it a lot.

Ours specifically states that it should not be used as a deep fryer. (You actually can, physically, but it is apparently dangerous to do so -- but I don't know why)

Part of the reason for using the air fryer is that it get far less oil in the food, so deep frying kinda wipes out that advantage.

The multi cooker

There it is guys:

Looks like a big pot and has several functions: You can fry, you can cook under steam pressure, you can warm up food, you can stew. There are several programs for veggies, meat, cereals, rice and even for whole recipes. So, for example you put asparagus in there, you close the lid and choose the program. The multi cooker automatically cooks the asparagus 3 minutes under steam pressure and then keeps them warm. You don´t have to stay there and watch the pot. The program ends after those 3 minutes and switches to keeping the food warm. If you forget your stuff in there: no problem! It´s just kept warm.

A little mix and an ITM

And from cooking to poker: Had more motivation yesterday and played a little mix of everything: PLO, PLO8 and Holdem. Played my 2.20 $ PKO-PLO and PLO8 on Stars, the "Troll Freeroll" on Titan of course and the 1.10 $ 500 $ Gtd. on Stars (Holdem). The weather was bad yesterday, so no tennis unfortunately. The weather was warm and humid and it was raining. After about 3 hours of playing I noticed that I had lost concentration but could keep up my game somehow. I was suprised to notice that I still can play LAG-style in Holdem which was fun! _biggrin:

Busted out early from PLO, could know one Villain out, so could collect one bounty, and the rest went card-dead. PLO8 went card-dead as well with a bust out with KKA2ss (ace suited). Flop was A3x, I jammed (because was short and committed) and looked into flopped two-pair aces and 3s. No help for me from turn and river and this was it.

Holdem went a bit better. Came ITM in the 500 $ Gtd. and busted AQo < JTo. The Troll Freeroll went well at the beginning until I ran with TPTK into a set and then lost AK < A7s. As I busted early from the PLOs, I decided to try a little 9-max SnG for 1,50 $ - just for nostalgic reasons, there I busted by loosing a flip 99 < AQ.

The 500 $ Gtd. was the "session saver", I could end my session with a break-evenish result.

Brutal heat wave - so what? We have some fun anyway!

Whoa guys, we had a brutal heat wave here in Germany with temperatures around 35°C. Harrier and I decided to have fun outside anyway, when I visited him on Friday. This time we agreed on doing a lot of sports, as we both are very sporty. But this time I had to leave my tennis racquet at home, no tennis ball, no tennis court and no bicycle.

This time it was Cricket, Lacrosse, Baseball and even some Football!! :f_o: Well, for me it was more of a "Troll Football", had no idea how that should work and according to Harrier I did more Judo and Krav Maga than Football :f_ugly::f_ugly::f_ugly: which was really mega funny. :mdr: Of course we had some nice and cool drinks :f_ugly: and of course we ended up not exactly sober :f_ugly::f_ugly::f_ugly: I think I did pretty well in Cricket (I could use some tennis skills there) and Lacrosse (again: tennis skills).

Afterwards, oh dear, poor Baby Peach had to driver her motorized stroller in Mario Kart and as expected she didn´t do that well. :f_ugly:

A big and positive surprise though came with the Schnitzel challenge. As almost always, I have to try a little piece of Harriers Banhauser Schnitzel and this time it was really delicious! :f_o: It was a Schnitzel with some pepper cream topping and that one was super delicious. :f_o:

I had a nice salad with chicken breast.

We played so much sports, even though it was around 35°C, that there was no more time left for "Overcooked". :f_o: Bummer, but guess going to play that one next time.

And what about poker?

Well, at the moment there´s not so much poker for me, as it is summer and I´m on my summer break. I only played the "Troll Freeroll" with Harrier but the last two times we both couldn´t cash. Yesterday, I busted with AK < AQ and this time only 7 placed were payed. Normally 9 places are payed. Strange.

Krav Maga = kicking people in the groin. :f_biggrin:

Spoiler

For the record, Prim did not actually do that, but she definitely made a move in that direction, at which point I stopped her and said something like "woah, wrong sport". :f_biggrin:
Note that Krav Maga is not really a sport, but a method of self-defense against real-world violence, which is why it's completely fine to go for the groin there. Some of the techniques I learned there, like shoveling away the hands of your aggressor, actually do come in handy on my position at football, though.

She also attempted a lot of biting, which I guess is to be expected when you play against a cute puppy. :f_wink: And I thought those face masks on football helmets are for protection, not to stop you from biting someone...
And yeah, attempting to trip people is also a no-go in that sport. :f_biggrin:

So while her tackling technique may be a bit lacking, she definitely showed a lot of heart. _grin: Some nice contact hitting in baseball and cricket too, who cares if she was holding those bats like a tennis racquet.

The sauce on that schnitzel was a bit like the one often used for Steak Madagascar, I believe. With that heat wave going on, I originally felt like going for a spicy fire schnitzel, but we had that one already, so I went for the one with pepper sauce. Nice to see that you liked it that much. :f_grin: As you can see, not everything that looks or sounds banhauser actually is. :f_wink:

And yes, we didn't go through everything we planned that day, and there are still loads of troll challenges left - it should take years until we run out of them, at which point we might as well start over again and it would still feel new. There's really never a dull moment with the two of us. :f_love:

Well the football indeed threw me about 40 years back :f_biggrin: When I was a child I was caught into a lot of fights and yes, I fought a lot. I was pretty much a "Tom boy" back then (now I´m a funny mix of Tom boy and girly girl :f_ugly: ). So, as I have no idea how football works, I instinctively packed out my old fight-stuff. Of course I did not hurt Harrier, I stopped before body contact could have happened. So I just pretended to hit him with my elbow and knee. :f_biggrin: Okay, this is not Football but at least some idea :f_ugly:

Yes, none of us was going full force, of course, it was just some casual sporting fun between friends, where we simulated some football situations. :f_grin: Prim's aforementioned "groin kick" was just a joking, suggestive move, she had no intentions of following through. And I save my full force for those people I face in practice and in games who weigh 40-50 kg more than me, not the lovely grindette who weighs 40-50 kg less than me. :f_grin:

That being said, I do have some boxing gear at home, maybe the trolls could do some sparring some time when the weather is less brutal? All casual yet again, of course. :f_wink:

Wow -- Krav Maga is to martial arts what dadaism is to painting

I had never heard of this before.

From the Wikipedia article
Krav Maga is known for its focus on real-world situations and its extreme efficiency.

Boy that's for sure!

Sounds like you had a great time.

I've done it for two years a while ago, it's quite interesting. Obviously, not all self-defense techniques learned there involve kicking your opponent in the groin, but as I said, it's certainly not above doing that. :f_wink: It's meant for the streets, after all, not for the ring.

You learn to defend against all kinds of situations, including strangulation, knife or gun attacks, and good old-fashioned fisticuffs, of course. Note that it's a purely defensive martial art, so you don't learn how to do any of that yourself, just how to get out of it in one piece if there's no other way. Sometimes you just practice behavior in potential conflict situations that may not even require you to get physical. We even did a seminar one weekend that involved simulated kidnappings and hostage situations.

One technique I have learned there, which was also taught to me when I did some police training a few years ago, was to use open palm strikes instead of fist punches when you need to defend yourself. The idea is to reduce the likelihood of drawing blood from your opponent, which may be a safety issue, especially if you're fighting some junkie at the train station or something. It seems counter-intuitive, though, not sure if I would ever use that in such a situation - but let's hope it won't ever be necessary either way.

But yes, it was quite fun, and it does enable you to carry yourself more confidently. It's not like I'm all that concerned about my physical safety in that peaceful little town of mine, but you never know - especially because it may sometimes be necessary to step up on someone else's behalf too.

Actually, only Harrier can do Krav Maga. I just fought a lot when I was a child and later as teenager. Didn´t know that I instinctively use my old "fight moves" from back then. :f_ugly::f_biggrin: But I had to do something to get the ball, right?

"Krav Maga is whatever works", my instructor used to say. This may even include running away, in certain circumstances - which was also taught, learning to scan your environment for possible escape routes while you are fending off your attacker is a skill that may save your hide one day. So technically, everyone can do it, but learning some effective moves just in case can still come in handy.

Don't worry, though, deralte. The only thing I ever broke after losing at poker was a mouse wheel. :f_biggrin:

Not much poker going on...

...but could at least make it to an FT. On Saturday I played the "Troll Freeroll" with Harrier and could place 6th. :f_thumbsup: Besides, I´m enjoying my "summer break", even though every now and then tennis has to be cancelled due to bad weather. After a very warm June with a pretty brutal heat wave the weather completely changed. Now it´s way cooler and rainy. One tennis practice had to be cancelled due to rainy weather and thunderstorm.

Next week I will be on vacation and because it´s going to be only a stay-at-home-vacation (due to Corona), I´m sure I´m going to find more time to hit the tables. :f_thumbsup:

Customers from hell, vacation, sushi, koi koi and PLO

After weeks and weeks of high work load, very strange humid weather and customers from hell, my well-deserved vacation has started. We could not book anything because everything is already completely booked out, so Homer and I decided to stay at home this time and will probably travel to the North Sea in September. A very nice start into my vacations was an awesome day with Harrier and a delicious Sushi meal

Unfortunately, the weather was not the best for sports outside this time, but a great weather to play Mario Kart, Overcooked and Koi Koi instead. I really like this Koi Koi, I love the beautiful cards and it´s a really interesting fun-game.

And there´s was also some culture, history and art by virtually visiting Pompeii, which was interesting and fascinating.

And for poker? Yeah, played yesterday some and even re-started PLO. Of course PLO went WAY better than the Holdem "Troll Freeroll", but unfortunately it was not enough to get ITM. I realized that I haven´t forgotten PLO and could have great start in the 3.30 $ PLO 500 $ Gtd. on Start. After a nice first hour, followed a card-dead second hour and missing my nutflush-and-inside-str8-draw. After this nothing came. Desperately jamming as short stack with ssAcies I was happy to be up against KKxxr but the flop brought a K. :f_mad: No help for me on turn and river, no draw, no runner-runner, no ace, nothing. Couldn´t get everything 100 % right of course, but I´m absolutely happy with my PLO-restart.

I read "overcooked koi koi" as some sort of fish dish.
One I'd rather avoid if possible.
