MP and SB are high vpip call happy players. CO is laggy one. Went for 3bet and got into 4way pot. Flop is monotone and I thought its hard to get action from weaker by betting on flop. On turn it comes checked again and I decided to bet 1/4 pot for protection versus straight draws and thin value versus weaker sets or perhaps two pairs. Not sure if checking again would make more sense? If shorter stacks shove it would be marginal spot I suppose. If we are always behind its bit -EV at least versus MP.

That is very interesting. I would be happy another free card in that situation.

My question is: What makes you delay cbet the turn but not the flop vs high vpip players? I might know the answer already: protection/equity denial. so why not cbetting small OTF?

1: If I bet flop and get raised by bigger stack I need to potentially fold ton of nutty equity.
2: Straight draws and sets are quite rare on 842 flop.
3: When villains check again on turn the chances of flush will decrease further. Especially strong flushes that are main candidates to potentially raise versus turn bet.
4: Turn does open lot more potential straight draws opening 9TJ having draw.

So if flop was e.g. KT7 I would see flop small bet as lot more reasonable option. Both straight draws and sets would be more likely. We dont mind to potentially get wrap to fold or weaker set to commit more into pot.

Its interesting spot imo. In hand everyone folded which is ok outcome.

same is true for 842r flop but still you would cbet this one I guess. checkback on monotone leads to point 4 of yours IMO

Anything else we bet on this flop besides flushes 4way? or just straightforward like J++ flush?

Yeah difference being on non monotone hand is current nuts. I think I would only bet flop with K or A high flush and sometimes if blocking one of those. Though I suppose chance of someone having flush might be too high. But then again if we go like 1/4 pot it only requires 20% fe.
