Villain is 39/32, 3B:8, around 200 hands iirc
NL5 GGPoker
(typing this from memory)

BTN : ~100 BB
SB: ~110 BB
BB: ~95 BB
UTG: ~120 BB
MP: ~110 BB
Hero (CO): ~70 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 6d7d

fold
MP raises 4BB
Hero calls 4BB
Button calls 4BB
fold
fold

Rationale for including suited connectors in a flat call range here was that MP has a tendency to overplay flop/turn with a really wide range: example would be MP 4bet shoving KK in a 3bet pot on a AhThQc flop in a previous hand. Furthermore, button player is very tight and his estimated 3bet range is TT+, AQo+ on the button. Thus, I'm happy to mix in some calls with speculative hands with the expectation that the button will not 3bet, and play a raise/fold strategy on the flop against MP with high IV.

Flop (13.5BB, 3 players) comes Jh7s6s

MP checks, Hero bets 8BB, Button calls
MP raises to 27BB, Hero calls, Button folds

At this point i have about 30BB behind, MP covers me.

Rationale for flat calling instead of shoving here is that I am putting MP on a range of AJo, QQ, KK, AA, AJs, QJo, QJs, KJo, KJs for value hands (since he re-reaises flop very wide) which I am beating, and AsKs, AsQs, AsTs, , KsQs, KsTs, QsTs, for bluffs which I want to keep in the hand for a possible turn shove. For hands which I am beat by, JJ is the most possible. 77, 66 I am blocking, but are also in his range. I don't think even a player this loose would raise J7s or J6s from MP, so I am discounting those hands.

Turn (about 90bb, 2 players) Jh7s6s3h

MP shoves 30bb, Hero calls 30bb

MP shows 77

As played, I think the flop bet into call is fine considering player profile.

Turn call is fine in my mind as well, as I am too pot committed to fold. However, should I have constructed a tighter range for MP in my mind? Button likely folded Ax 2 spades, so could I have discounted those cards from MP's range? Or is this just an unlucky hand? Not sure.

Thoughts would be appreciated.

With the current stack dynamic you are committed if you call the flop and on most turns you will stack off anyway and I would shove the flop as well.

Pre-flop seems like a easy fold against a 4x open.

In your preflop analysis you only talk about MP and Bu to justify your call preflop, but you still have somebody in SB and BB who can squeeze behind you guys. Also he opens to 4x from Mp not a standard opening size.

Also some your math is wrong, on the Turn the pot is only around 68bb not 90bb.

When he raise you on the flop your stack is 49bb left. If you shove here ( Is what i would do ) he only has to call 30bb in an almost 80bb pot.

He will also raise you OTF with almost all of his AXs hands not only AT+, because with those stats he has all of AXs on his opening range.

You get EVERYTHING wrong

1. Preflop sc are difficult hand to play. You have hand that is often not flopping anything and you are shortstack on table. Additionally villain is opening for 4bb - I can say certainly - this is NEVER call preflop regardless of what you think about opponent. He would need to pay you off every single time to make it marginally profitable call.
2. You have shorter stack, there is no place for slowplay in this hand. Lets say you shove flop. MP has to call 39bb to win 152bb(if BU folds) so he needs 25% equity to call and with bluffs you give him(flushdraws) he has over 30% so he has to call. All his overplays also have to call.
3. For me whole hand analysis from your side looks like justification after fact. Its like 'oh, I played it so well, but I was unlucky... right?!'. No, you screwed this hand completely on every important decision node(preflop, flop).

Hi aaylt,
Welcome to PokerStrategy.com :welcome:

It is possible on GGPoker to auto-add-on.
This is important to do, otherwise you'll suddenly have a big pot and can only win a small amount.

Also, if you investigate "pokercraft" link at the bottom of the client you'll find that you can download hand histories, then format them for forum viewing. You can read more about it here: https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?postid=1432571#post1432571
(Note: that link has some information in it that is somewhat out of date, but is OK in general)

I agree that the standard play would be to fold pre but with position (only btn behind) I think playing these SC certainly can be very profitable especially vs a loose player where you will get payed off to make it profitable. But you need to be able to capitalize when they hit combined with (semi) bluffing which is not too hard to do with draws in position.

After the 3-bet OTF with your stack size a shove would be preferable. Deep stacked you want to make the call but continue with caution.

Fold pre, simple as that, it is temping to play these sc hands, but vs mp + bigger open just fold, if you want to get spicy then 3bet/fold the hand it will be way more EV than calling, after you call you go all in on flop no questions asked, 2 pair+ is nuts on the flop, if villain wants to get it in you get it in and if you run into a set oh well better luck next time, but probably 9 out of 10 times you will be vs top pair top kicker, over pair or a good draw
