I'd really like to switch from Elephant to HEM. I tried HEM and couldn't make stats background transparent. I really like how Elephant stats show up. They are fully transparent at background.

i don't use transparent background, but its perhaps at this point:
HUD Options > Player Preferences
in the new dialog switch to tabulator "Appearance"
in the middle you see three pulldown menus and one of it is "Background". In the list of colors the last item is "transparent".
Is this, what you'r looking for?
