GG Poker - $0.25 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 100 BB
Hero (SB): 100.4 BB
BB: 149.2 BB
UTG: 151.2 BB
MP: 100.24 BB
CO: 219.84 BB

Hero posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has Q♥ Q♠

fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 5 BB, BB calls 4 BB

Flop: (10 BB, 2 players) 2♣ 3♠ 9♥
Hero bets 5.2 BB, BB calls 5.2 BB

Turn: (20.4 BB, 2 players) 7♦
Hero bets 15.92 BB, BB raises to 55.12 BB, Hero ? ?

The villain is a reg.

I think that this is probably a fold. This seems like set or two pair to me.

Thoughts?

Is indeed possible. Off course villain defending range will be a lot tighter against you're 5x open from the SB.
Not sure that's you're standard open, but 3x seems big enough.

I'm just trying it out as it has become popular to do so in the RC games, but I'm starting not to like it so much because it prevents the opponents from 3betting preflop, and in this case we want the BB to 3bet something like 99/77 so that we can build a pot with 4bet preflop in order to go broke in a clean and expedient manner. And at the same time, I am going to be 4betting to a larger size here giving away position so the most likely results will be that they are going to be folding preflop as well.

call. I agree with SDk his calling range is tighter when you raise 5x. I can see him having 10's A9 etc.

Frankly, if that's the case then I don't know how to play this 5 to 7BB RFI on SB vs BB. I'm not going to do it anymore. The villain could have JJ here and KK is still in his range, I think.

I dont think it makes sense to call those hands on flop and then raise on turn. Flop is where its most beneficial to raise when you can gain a lot of protection.

I'm nit and I'm folding this. I dont want to go broke with overpair and I would be commited with 65% of stack in middle. So better fold on turn. It would be completely different story with normal stack to pot ratio as I can easily find bet/call turn -> fold river and also people will be more inclined to bluff as its cheaper than raising for half of stack.

I am not a nit but I still fold this. Yeah, I folded.

Interesting hand on a common spot.
What if we have Aces or Kings? Does this change something?
What if we have Q9 or J9? We block QQ/JJ/99. Are we expected to call more then?

The villain is a reg.

,

fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 5 BB

:f_eek:

If you plan to bet-fold, you must use different sizes...Or even check to show a weakness...Without an info, this is an easy 3bet OTT. All in...You said "he is a reg", again, if he is a reg, it is over with this size OTT, you can't fold...Only the HUD can give you the permission to fold here...IMO..And again, I mean because of the SPR, the size OTT...When you use such a monster size OTT, you should know already what to do vs raise. Too late for fold...
Big size usually means "polarized bet". And should be...That's why...Ok, you can do this for thin value vs calling station (linear range), but not vs someone else. I think OTT is a check or not so big bet. At this board...Only vs calling station will be a good idea to play like that. Even vs such a guy will be not clear fold (vs this size he can raise weaker hand for "protection"). You need info for fold even vs calling station, I mean.

About this 5x size. Actually it is easier for him to defend vs such a size. Imo you can use this size vs some calling station (for max value) or vs nit as bluff (some stupid hand)...If you want to try something different, you can use limp, with limp-fold, limp-raise and limp call. Depends on his size for raise vs limp...But the problem is you cant use the HUD effectively and this is kinda lost of value, this lack of info...You can try vs random players...This applies also for 5x or 7x or 25x or whatever "strategy"...
