How do you get a community card in a game of 7 card stud?
When dealing cards, some cards are buried.
If enough people are seated there won't be enough cards to deal 7 to each player.
A community card would be one way to cope with that situation.

I've been wondering how a similar situation would be handled in 2-7 Triple Draw. In theory, if all players at a 6-handed table insisted on drawing 5 all the time, you would quickly run out, wouldn't you?
Vorpal has the idea! One way of demonstrating this little known rule is at an 8 handed game of 7 card stud.
If for some reason there are still 8 players when the final card is to be dealt - a deal that would require 56 cards, so shuffling the burn cards back into the deck beforehand would not suffice (the ideal method of addressing this issue) then instead of all the players getting dealt their final card, one card is dealt face up on the table as a community card that acts as that 7th card to complete every active player's hand in one go.
Not sure it's that likely that 8 players will be still in the hand when you need to deal 7th street. I don't think that will happen to often that the dealer needs to use a community card.

I have never seen it happen either, but as far as I know, this is an official rule, so it should be already programmed into most online tables.

in 2-7 the discards are re-shuffled.
I have seen discards reshuffled to continue a game, but it was so long ago, I cannot remember what game it was. It might have been crazy 8s for all I know.
Another thing about 2-7 β even including the 4 8s there are only 28 cards worth keeping.
If you're in BB and everyone in the hand ahead of you has entered the pot, there is very poor odds for keeping a 7,2 hand and drawing 3 . Even worse for the button, if everyone ahead of you has entered the pot and drawn 3 that is almost half the pool of best cards gone.

Actually, though, if someone discarded the a 3 and a 5 from 5,5,3,3,4 you could get a lucky fill for your 7,4,2

I never saw it, but maybe it's possible to try it on a play money home game.
