$2/5 live cash 9 handed
Effective stack $1200
Hero: QhQd

UTG+1 o$15
Villain (LJ) call
Hero (HJ) 3B $75
Folds to villain who calls
HU to flop
Pot: $162

Flop: 2h3h6c
LJ check
Hero cbet $110
LJ 3b to $265
Hero call
Pot: $490
Turn: 2s
LJ jams $865
Hero calls
River blank
LG shows 4s5s

Villain is a solid reg. I’ve played with him a decent amount and he is very capable of bluffing

Last session played with him he bluffed river for 1.5x pot with missed flush draw

Can you find a fold in that spot or are you calling?

I can see him calling pre with 66-jj, JTs, ATs-AJs, 98s, T9s

I don’t put Him on AA,KK,AKs because he would’ve 3B UTG+1 open

I block KQs, AQ, QJ (not impossible for him to have those holdings but it’s not as likely)

i lose to
2 combos A2s
4 combos 54s
3 combos 66 (unlikely due to -EV play jamming top boat)

Thoughts/input on how hand was played? Are you calling that 2x jam or finding a fold.

Thanks in advance for any input

Hi MpRoSYp0,
Welcome to PokerStrategy.com :welcome:

Horribly bad luck IMO. bear in mind that I'm not a hold'em expert, and I've played live at this limit only a few times.
The check/raise is suspicious, and makes me think set, but I probably still call this down.

Cheers,
VS

With the risk of sounding like a total asshole, you are 240 bbs deep and he cannot have all the sets or trips on the turn? Plus he overbets 2x pot...man your overpair is rarely doing well. I honestly think without info, for that stack size, facing that 2xpot overbet you have an easy fold. Plus its live, he will never balance hes 2x pot overbet range against you cuz he might no see you again.
So let´s roll the tape back. Villan has a very wide range when calling the 3bet, I would say 100% of the open range given how deep you are and how good the implied odds are. Then he takes a super aggro line, in a masively underbluffed spot where even online crushers struggle to find good bluffs. You have QQ...do you see the problem?
I think you got outplayed, and that is ok as long as you realized people will not be balanced in these spots, and here QQ is NOT a value beater!

Tricky spot. I think its towards nuts and less towards draws bcz he doesn't expect pairs folding much and your range not being that bluffy that live guys really raise draws enough. Folding QQ on turn you would have to be extreme confident of the guy being huge nitt I think in practice having such a sample to be making that kind of big exploit of folding is something not likely to be had . You might fold TT / JJ but getting closer to top range I think QQ is just a hand to never fold.

Based on the information provided, it seems reasonable to call the turn jam from villain. Although there are some hands in his range that beat hero's QQ (A2s, 54s, and 66), there are also plenty of hands that hero beats (such as flush draws and straight draws). Additionally, the fact that villain has a history of bluffing in similar situations makes it more likely that he could be bluffing again.

In terms of how the hand was played, the pre-flop raise and flop continuation bet from hero seem standard given the strength of the hand and the board texture. However, the decision to call the flop 3-bet from villain could be debated. While hero has an overpair and a backdoor flush draw, the board is relatively coordinated and there are many hands in villain's range that could have hit it. It's possible that a fold on the flop could have saved hero from being put in a tough spot on the turn.

Overall, the decision to call the turn jam seems reasonable given the information provided. However, it's worth noting that poker is a game of incomplete information and there may be factors that are not known or mentioned in the question that could impact the decision.

I will bet less on the flop, 50% ...Fold vs this raise. The raise is small, but that's is the problem. Small raise is scary for me...The regs at this limits are pretty bad, fish-regs, regular fishes, a little better than a tight fish...You can play bet-bet, fold vs such a raise. If you don't have enough equity vs monster hands + small percentage of bluffs...And maybe not so strong , weaker value hands, but I don't think he will do that with JJ or TT...Maybe, but extremely rare...And you cant just call, because of the price, to see what he will do on the turn, maybe he will give up, maybe you will hit your queen. I know such a field, its like 70% of time you will face bet on the turn and this is not because of 30% bluffs on the flop. The bluffs are maybe 10% , maybe little more. Not enough for call...even vs small size. Vs big size you can think about FD...Is this enough? Maybe..At least you can think about call and see the turn...

And this bluff that you saw from him..Mate, if you miss your FD, what you will do? Are you a maniac? Ofc he will bluff on the river with missed FD, everyone do that...
Just fold on the flop and do not show, not a big deal. They will see you as aggro and will pay more. And , mate, fold on the flop can't be a big mistake for sure...If you think like that...The players are pretty bad, but not because they are aggro. Just play as nit, you will be OK...

I am no expert, but I think you just got unlucky there, maybe should of been a little wary with such a low flop.
He could of had trips, never mind the straight
