Family Grinder

Having a job and family definitely take their toll on poker time. I'm pretty much on the same schedule as you - 1-2 hours when kids are asleep (sometimes 1-2 hours at lunch too if I don't have much work, or a few bigger sessions when they are with grandparents).

I think that the most important part is to manage your expectations. Sure you won't be able to become a millionaire if you don't breathe, eat and live poker, but it can be a nice side thing that can still earn you some money. Also since playing a smaller volume be prepared to roll with the punches, cause variance can and will hit you, and it takes a while to get back on track.

Also you will get an amazing sense of achievement when climbing the limits even though it will be a lot slower due to limited time to play. Anyways don't give up and continue improving and results will come. At least for me I know that my poker goals will probably take me a few years to achieve, but you never know, you might run lucky and progress faster, or you might get stuck and take forever to move on, the important part is that you're willing to take the time and IMO results will come sooner or later.

Even though kids (and wife) will have most of the time after works, those 2 (or 3) little creatures have build up my mental coolness more than anything else ♦

This goal (nl25 or 1000$ bankroll) will most likely take a lot of time because the volume will be so low. I remember 2013 I played 4-6h per day 5-7 days a week, and my mental side was just so crap and I was merely breakeven in nl2-nl5. Now my time is limited but I have other things in my life to keep in balance

Family life:
Yesterday was a bit chaotic day. I think mixing remote work and taking care of kids at the same time is not the best combination But I did not have a choice, daycares are not open until next Monday and wife is working out of home. Today as well. And I feel a bit guilty to let girls watch so much Tv/Youtube during this time.. But what one can do...

Both girls were much more restless compared to our normal day routines after watching so much screen. And I also lost my nerves couple of times (just take a deep breaths, count to 1 million and run to the forest)

Let's see how today is going to be. I already said to my self that this is not forever, just a one day more and it feels forever :f_p:..

Poker:
I installed OBS and played with it a little bit, it was fun! Just need to solve couple of things and I'm ready to start recording my sessions!

Mandatory:
- I need a decent microphone. I'm playing after kids go to sleep and I just can't speak too loud.
- More time

Secondary:
- Need to adjust my backgroung, or have a software/camera what can blur it (too cluttery)
- I need to learn how to play poker
- I need a prettier face
- I need my speaking ability back (lost it a bit after a tongue cancer surgery 3 months ago)

At the tables felt a bit frustrated after losing a one big pot (112bb) and I was just starting my games after girls went to sleep. So I decided to play only 2 cash tables and shortly after I switched to 3$ tournament with OBS. I got through the bubble and then lost my 11bb stack KQo vs JJ.

And here is the NL5 cash hand what got me. Not too sure if was my play was a bit spewwish..

Oh and my BR challenge looks like this :
Start: 164$
Now: 154$
NL Hands played: 646
NL profit: -7,85$
Tournaments: 1
Tournament profit +1,63$

Ok, need to go play hide and seek with the girls!

youre from south or north Finland? ive been to finland like 10 times but never seen you

as long as you make sure it does not affect your personal life, all is good. personally, SNG worked always best for me.

I live in Lappeenranta at the moment (south east, about 200km from Helsinki). Moved there from Kuopio (central Finland). You must give me a message next time you are visiting Finland!!

Short update.

Much work and much familylife.

That is why I tried GG rush tables at the weekend and got hit by a train couple of times, bankroll went from 164$ to 110$.

A bit of a bad play and some preflop all in flips. I'm trying to find some time to analyse those loosing hands better at some point in this week. But at this moment it seems that other life duties takes a really big chunk of my freetime, so poker will have a less volume.

Maybe some rush and sng tables :f_rolleyes::f_ugly:

But no worries! Life is good and winter is coming!

Very bad for bankroll management. I also get hit by a train when playing fast tables. Family life is true, but there is no reason to play fast poker. I decided "I'd rather not play than lose my bank on a fast poker tables."

Tonight I suddenly had some extra hours for poker. I decided to play. Really good mood, sharp, well rested (as good as it can be as a family man). And I found really juicy nl5 cash tables from GG. Nice

And my bankroll went from 110$ to 91.90$

In my opinion I played a good poker and I'm quite pleased for the session. Just crashed with better trips few times and runner runner rivers.

But this hand, not quite sure was my play ok.. GG stats showed vpip 40% and steal 59% for the villain. What is interesting because PokerTracker have a quit different stats for the villain..

Anyhow, as we Finns say:
"leuka rintaan ja kohti uusia pettymyksiä!"

I don't think pokertracker can show stats for the players from gg handhistories? All players are given a different numerical username each hand, so if it shows stats maybe it's from 1 hand? or probably they reuse the usernames, but for different players if you have more hands ..:f_pleased:

I wouldn't 3bet A9o oop against such a player (AT can at least make a straight with 2 cards ... A9 not), but after that it's jus too bad you have to go broke I think? He is the one pushing on the river, so his range can contain bluffs (busted flushdraws and such).
